Default Hamberger hill

Yes it was at the top of A Shau Valley. I never made to the hill. It was in 1969, I was in college . From what I understand about the nameing of the place was , the name came from guys comming down off the hill as they passed guys going up the hill. The guys comming down called it Hamberger hill.

James, you followed the forth around, you had to be in famous places. . I know you have been to the area north west of Pleiku where the two valleys meet. That was the spookiest place I ever been to. seems like there was always fog.
I remember dropping off some of you LRRP guys and leaving you in places I wouldn't want to be left. Ya know I always wondered how you got back, seem like all of a sudden you just showed up. Then you would hang out by yourselfs. One thing I didn't like was walking anywhere with you guys in your cammo pants and shirt, seemed like that was like waveing a big flag, saying shot at me.

Actually the cammo was a message to the MPs and other REMFs saying Don't fck with me if you like the idea of DEROS. It usually worked. In the field we could and did wear whatever we wanted, often just good ol OD fatigues (sometimes the laundry was late)
Just being in the Nam was enough for an American to get shot at (same as Iraq)

Also-- the 4th followed us and watched our bags while we were in the field (they werent too good at this)

Expect a package!!

James

You know, I think your right about who followed who, Can't say that I agree with the not very good job though. I sure didn't like walking through all that water south of Hue, your guys didn't seam to mind at all, something about being part snake.
