The Private vs. the Public Child .................... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Personal note(s): HC it amazes me in part: I & the twins (a Boy & Girl) were once given up for adoption through the Catholic system. Too dreadful to discuss - what I recall about those days but - and yes it's safe to say that the government does play a part in the issues you mentioned. - Note: My younger sister was raised by an Aunt and she later became a Nun. Her twin brother and I - were shuttled around to many homes - but we were not allowed to be together - for some ungodly reason. - My brother passed away not long ago from exposure to AO during Nam. - His twin Sister became a Catholic Nun. - I was shuttled to three place's before my real Mother found me. She had since remarried to the only man - I got to really know. - If not for him & her - I don't know what I would've become or done? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ As for the care given by those who were to watch over us - it seemed they were very cold - as they separated - us - so we could no longer be together as we grew up. The twins found it very difficult and I could no longer be mixed in with them - some kind of rules by the system. (All girls in one dorm and all boy's in another dorm - was the rule). ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ But as you review the William & Mary Law Review the listing's vary from religious - to the more political aspects of those who were to provide for our welfare - and hopefully find a home eventually - for those who were left behind to be raised by others. - So yes - to a degree we became part of the government system & rules and yes - there was nothing - we could do about it. Also had interviews with those who were thinking about adoption - but they were - also benefiting by proxy & getting paid - so much per child - they adopted - since our parents breakup. - It's was a horrible system and I've never forgotten it. I would never put any kids through that system - there's no love - there's no hope - and it breaks my heart - to know that so many - are in such environments or institutions! - Boats
