North Korea SHOCK warning: US forced to use military action if China does not interveneBy CHARLOTTE DAVIS - PUBLISHED: 14:01, Tue, 12/26/17

DONALD TRUMP will use “force” on North Korea if China fails to stop Kim Jong-un on his mission for a fully fledged nuclear weapons programme, former US ambassador John Bolton has warned.

North Korea has ramped up its nuclear and missile development over the past few months sparking huge World War 3 fears.

President Donald Trump has pledged to “take care” of Kim Jong-un’s ruthless regime but has not yet succeeded.

In an effort to stop the rogue nation, the United Nations Security Council imposed tough new sanctions on North Korea after its continued missile testing.

The resolution seeks to ban nearly 90 percent of refined petroleum product exports to North Korea.

But former US Ambassador to the UN John Bolton said those who export to North Korea may refuse to follow these rules. He said: “Nobody should think just because the Security Council passes a resolution, compliance follows automatically, it certainly does not.”

Speaking to Fox News, Mr Bolton said China has not done enough to stop North Korea's nuclear and ballistic missiles programme and time is running out.

He said: “China supplies 90 percent of North Korea’s oil. And huge amounts of food and other humanitarian goods. China can pretty much do what it wants.

“In fact, what should be irritating to Americans, is that after 25 years of China saying they didn’t want North Korea to have nuclear weapons, they have done precious little to make a difference to achieve that objective.

“Even after the President’s visit to Beijing, you don’t see much evidence that China has really stepped up the pressure like they keep telling us they will.”

Mr. Bolton said America has attempted to stop the North Korean regime but is down to some “very unattractive options”.

He insisted the “binary choice” is to either allow North Korea to have the capability to hit any target in the United States it wants with a thermo-nuclear weapon or the USA have to “look at the use of force”.

Following the UN vote, Donald Trump wrote on Twitter: “The United Nations Security Council just voted 15-0 in favour of additional Sanctions on North Korea. The World wants Peace, not Death!”

The North Korea foreign ministry responded to the UN sanctions and branded them an “act of war” and said: "We define this 'sanctions resolution' rigged up by the US and its followers as a grave infringement upon the sovereignty of our Republic, as an act of war violating peace and stability in the Korean peninsula and the region and categorically reject the 'resolution'.

“North Korea's nuclear weapons are a self-defensive deterrence not in contradiction of international law.

"We will further consolidate our self-defensive nuclear deterrence aimed at fundamentally eradicating the US nuclear threats, blackmail and hostile moves by establishing the practical balance of force with the US.”

UN sanctions forced China to stop all exports of petroleum exports to North Korea in November, Chinese customs data showed.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said: “As a principle, China has consistently fully, correctly, conscientiously and strictly enforced relevant U.N. Security Council resolutions on North Korea. We have already established a set of effective operating mechanisms and methods.”
