Think I told this once but ... Deep in the jungle I got a call to stop what we were doing and give a safety class on every weapon we had cause someone had shot themself or somebody else and to call in when the class was over. Got to the 45 and told them it really wasn't a safety but if you push back the top receiver it won't fire. One of my guys took out his 45 pressed his hand over the receiver and blew a good chunk of his hand off. I called in the safety class was over and we needed a medivac ASAP

LT my Dad had a buddy at Ft. Kagnew Station, Ethiopia in the late 50's do that exact same thing when somebody told him you could jam your attackers weapon if you slamed the heel of your hand into the front of the Colt 1911 when they pulled the trigger .Well, Einstein tried it in the barracks and blew a big hole in his hand also. another Darwin award recipient .
