In the event some did not notice, the "Political Debate Section" took a little breather!

REASON - For a cool down of tempers and emotions!

This does not mean that one can not express their views and even ire over politically related subjects, that is what this is all about.

What it does mean, however, is that "NO" personal attacks against members of this site by anyone else on this site will be allowed or tolerated!

We are all brothers and sisters here, and best of all-
"WE ARE BACK!!"

What I have learned over the years in politics.
1. Both Liberals and Conservatives usually want to do that which is right. But, use different philosophies and forms of government.

Monarchies do work, Dictatorships work, Socialism works, Fascism works, Communism works, Democracy works . . . . I believe our government and the freedoms we enjoy in the USA is about as good as it gets. The other forms of government certainly have their major downsides, but they do work.
Our biggest problem is that we somehow feel that other forms of government or anothers opinion is less worthy than ours. And, if they are less worthy then they become detrimental to us and everyone we know. And we begin to personalize it and internally we develop bitterness and hatred towards those that don't quite agree with us. We think others are stupid and ignorant just because they don't agree with us. What a terrible way to garner self-esteem and support for your cause.
Why not listen and compare. Make rational decisions and if you disagree, let by-gones be by-gones. We can often learn from others.
When I was in Africa I learned that other cultures function and sometimes very well. I may think the way they come to their decisions are foolish or strange but their societies function and sometimes amazingly well.

The Old saying is very true: "there is more than one way to skin a cat."

If we keep this in mind, we can be civil to one another. End of lecture.

GENTS (And even those who are not) -

The only taboo that I can detect, is the name calling and personal insults! I know that this is going to be difficult (myself included, damn!!)

As far as playing nice, hey, if you've got a beef in the political/bureaucratic arena, let it rip (within reason as usual). The only problem (or at least the biggest problem) was the attacks, snide or outright, being aimed at each other, for one reason or another!

Mary Poppins we are not, and the owners of the site realize this!

...early this morning (general),on the subject of the "missing forumn", and David's stated that he was reshuffling/moving things around, so it sounded to me then like it was an administration thing,...

...not a slap on the wrist, and "time out children",...

...I feel that the conversations were of an important nature, and that the "name calling wasn't that severe", we're all "grown ups", and therefore I do not feel that "putting things in the closet" makes the issues go away, nor does it change anyone ideals either, so why shelve them,...

...I'm not all that active on the political front, and admire those who speak their minds here, the insights provided gives "simpletons" like me more information in which to process, and weed out, and the ability to make an adult decision down the line,...
