USFA Reports Triple Texas Firefighter Fatality

A triple firefighter fatality occurred Thursday, March 10 when three Texas firefighters were killed in a helicopter crash, the USFA reported. The cause of the helicopter crash is still to be determined.

Those killed were Fire Base Manager John Greeno, age 51, Fire Management Officer Charles Edgar, age 54, and Pilot Jose Victor Gonzales, age 45.

Dixie Suburban, Kentucky Firefighter Mourned

A Dixie Suburban firefighter is being remembered for his dedication to protecting the public and helping others.

On Wednesday, 39-year-old Andre Ellis died in the line of duty. He was doing what he loved best which was helping others be better firefighters.

Hollywood, Alabama Fire Chief Dies of Line of Duty Heart Attack

Fire Chief Al Wright, 51, of the Hollywood, Alabama Volunteer Fire Department died Monday, March 21 of a heart attack while responding to a call.

The department received a call of an auto incident with injures Monday evening and Wright was paged to respond. En route to the called he passed away from what has been determined to be a heart attack.

New York Firefighter Loses Fight For Life After Injury

According to Montgomery Fire Chief James Ferguson, Firefighter Bob Brooks lost his battle Monday after suffering a ruptured brain anuerism. Details for funeral arrangements still pending.

Bob Brooks, 42, of Montgomery, a married father of five who moved to Montgomery from Long Island in the past year, collapsed during the final phase of basic firefighter training at the Orange County Fire Training Center.

Paramedic and a Volunteer Killed in Ambulance Crash on Long Island

A paramedic and a volunteer were killed when their ambulance slammed into a tree on the way to a Long Island hospital. The volunteer, Heidi Behr, 23, of Riverhead was a hard-working single mother who leaves behind a severely disabled 14-month old son, her mother said.

The other victim, William Stone, 30, was a professional paramedic from Rocky Point. A relative said he was engaged to be married.

North Carolina Assistant Chief Dies at Fire Station

A North Carolina assistant fire chief passed away Saturday, May 7th while on duty at the fire station.

Assistant Chief Mike Childress, of the Level Cross Volunteer Fire Department in Randolph County, died after an apparent heart attack, members said. He was discovered by his daughter and fellow firefighters.

Iowa Firefighter Dies After Farm Accident

The young farmhand who tried to rescue a Clinton County farmer overcome by manure pit gases has died, too.

Justin P. Faur, 23, of Teeds Grove, died Saturday at University Hospitals in Iowa City, more than a week after the April 20 death of cattle farmer Dwight Johnson, 52, of Andover.

Former N.J. Chief Laid to Rest

James Michael Ratcliffe was remembered yesterday as a low-key man who loved the Giants football team, spoiled his cats and spent the better part of his life serving the residents of Metuchen as a volunteer.

The former chief of the Metuchen Fire Department was mourned at a funeral service at St. Francis of Assisi Cathedral in the borough. About 130 people attended.

Arizona Firefighter Dies at Station

An Arizona firefighter passed away in her sleep while on duty at the Pinetop Fire Department, officials reported.

According to the department's web site, Valeree Claude, age 33, died unexpectedly in her sleep on June 24th while on duty at Pinetop Fire Station 2, located at 5976 Bucksprings Road.

Georgia Firefighter Dies On Duty

A Georgia firefighter died from a heart attack while on duty early Thursday morning.

The U.S. Fire Administration Memorial Data Base is reporting that Thomas A. Hurlbert, 54, who was returning from multiple storm-related calls with the Rockdale County Fire Department in Conyers, Ga., suffered a heart attack as he was driving the apparatus.
