Thumbs up Yesterday!

Yesterday I performed a wedding. After the wedding the groom introduced me to his Uncle. The 80+ year old gentleman had been with 101st Airborne in WW II. Parachuted behind the enemy lines on D-day, went into Holland, Bastonia, and Hitlers eagle nest. Never got many details from him. But I've been watching Band of Brothers on the History Channel and I thought to myself. What wonderful opportunity I had to meet with one of them "fighting Bastards" . A real hero and real piece of history.
The groom told me his uncle doesn't talk about it much and never has but he lets everyone know he was airborne with the 101st in WW II. The gentleman lives over in the Seattle area so I probably will never meet him again. But what a wonderful privilege.

Thumbs up

Been watching it to for the first time. Give that man a hug from me and thank him for his service. The show is right on. Glad to be with this band of brothers.

Post John -

John they were just ordinary men like you and I. When their country called they did the job asked of them. You have to admire their courage and ability as fighting men. They were the best trained soldiers of their day. He wasn't a member of Easy company but he was with the 101st Airborne.

I probably won't see him again, but what a privilege just have a little fifteen minute chat with him.

Definitely a privilege to be in the company of people like that.

The thing about them is they are heroes just like you and me. In a world where the term "hero" is truly misused, these guys spent the best years of their lives putting their lifes on the line.

I wish I could have met this gentleman and thanked him for his service. (I wonder what he thought of Band of Brothers?)
