09-05-2018 09:19 AM In an unshaded corner of Finn's Point National Cemetery is a reminder of a tragedy. In two lines made up of simple white tombstones, are the graves of 13 German prisoners of war who died while being held at Fort Dix during World War II. Ten of the POWs died of various causes, but three gravestones all bear the same date: June 29, 1945 – 52 days after the fighting in Europe ended. More... |
