Default scout helicopters

On several missions I can remember a small helicoper going along with us for quite a while. As I recall this was BN 6A or second in command at BN. He actually saved out butts a couple times. I used to think that this was as good an idea as rideing on tanks (didn't think much of it) until one fine day when he calls on BN frequency and says there is a bunch of NVA ahead!!!!!!!
After about the third time of him saying this I understood what he was saying. BN ordered us to withdraw and started to arty the whole place. We went in the next morning at daybreak and found a bunch of blood and very little else. 155s make a nice size hole.

Thumbs up

Had to escort and provide security for a battery of 155;s on a "raid". They were SP so we all rode out 20 or 30 ( I really don't remember ) klicks and they shot into Laos all day. At nignt they started to build a fire . I told them to put it out and dig holes . One guy wanted to play a banjo, I told him I would shoot him. Next morning they took the extra bags of powder and made a hugh peace sign and set it on fire in the small grass we were in . We were lucky that day.
