Default Interesting Pic of Pearl Harbor

This pic was taken on November 10, 1944.

The inboard ship is the USS Oklahoma (BB-37), capsized and sunk on Dec 7, 1941. At this date she has been righted and refloated.

The outboard ship is USS Wisconsin (BB-64), almost brand new, and in commission less than a year.

Look at the size difference between these two battleships!

Looks like anti-torpedo netting just outboard of Wisconsin.

Default Wow

You could fit the Oklahoma on the Wisconsin. Some of the old Battle ships that had the 14 inch guns became what was known as "Mac Arthurs Navy" Ships that were permantley assigned by the Navy to Mac Arthur while did his landings.

These pictures -tied up to dock - really give you the idea of size and magnitude of the big boys. Magnificant its not hard to knows she's a lady. Grey iron never looked so good. The Navy knows how to put these to good use. As an old sailor I always find emotion and high regards for these steel beauties. Thanks for the flics I will find a spot to put these in my ship folder. I bet it was swell to be on the bow at sea on this vessel. I bet she road them waves real good. Thanks again

Compared to the Wisconsin, the Oklahoma looks like it sailed with Teddy Roosevelt's Great White Fleet.
