ORLANDO, Fla. ? An astronaut drove from Houston to Florida, donned a disguise and confronted a woman she believed was romantically involved with a space shuttle pilot she was in love with, police said. She was charged with attempted kidnapping and other counts.

U.S. Navy Capt. Lisa Nowak, 43, who flew last July on a shuttle mission to the international space station, was also charged with attempted vehicle burglary with battery, destruction of evidence and battery. She was denied bail.

Police said Nowak drove from her home in Houston to the Orlando International Airport ? wearing diapers so she wouldn't have to stop to urinate ? to confront Colleen Shipman.

Why do Men and women do this kind of stuff. I could never understand why people think that somehow they will win back or make OK the relationship that is not there for the other person.

Really dumb.

That just proves the poeple on the bottom rung of the ladder in our society don't have the market cornered when it comes to being a ding-a-ling fruitcake.
With all the education this woman has, plus having such a prestigious job, she acted like a spoiled, adolenscence teenage girl who can't handle another female being attracted to her beau.

It's called "Borderline Personality Disorder". You can have all the education and rank in the world, but someone with BPD does crap like this all the time.

Very interesting, very interesting.
The news just came on and explained the love triangle. It seems that one of the male astronauts was having some affairs including with this female astronaut and with CPT Novak. Love and Sex in a no altitude situation, sounds like a novel. Doesn't modern society teach us how to behave, you watch the soap operas and go to enough movies you'll realize that CPT Lisa's behavior is normal and rational. (For those who don't realize it I'm being cynical) I don't know if its what I would call borderline behavior but she lost it. And, now not only she but the other astronaut will lose his job. A soap opera in outer space, it was bound to happen - astronauts just reflect society as a whole.

P.S. Packy and I will discuss this Borderline Thing. I think if she was borderline she would have lost it long, long ago. I think she just cracked from being in a triangle. Jealous lover syndrome. Borderline she would have these types of experiences over the years. Maybe she has had these experiences over the years but its been covered up. I would think being in her type occupation that a borderline personality would have been discovered years ago. Maybe not. I think I'm back in Grad school again doing analysis for my instructor.

It was NBCs fault that she did what she did. NBC must have had an agenda and wanted us to feel some negative thing about her.

Seems like totally driven ?A? personalities plus a monster egos make for some mighty strong forces to contend with. Maybe this is the first Astronaut to have such a public four-wheel blow out, but I highly doubt it?s the first of a kind.
Usually this kind of deal is a ?guy thing? and what goes on among the ?tail hookers? whilst crashin, bashin, n? frolickin around. Institutionalized n? approved egocentric behavior is a likely contributor to this set of skid marks, gaping hole in the fence and the upside down smoldering hulk in the pasture.

Maybe stuff of the 'right stuff'. As it were, 'welcome to the danger zone'

Obviously I would need a complete psycho/social history to make a good diagnosis, but having worked here at the Naval Hospital, I see Borderlines obtaining high rank every day. One in particular just got promoted to CAPT. Borderlines can function in high capacities at work, but their outside lives are usually chaotic. People are involved in love triangles all the time and don't resort to what this one did, or even close. Look at Booger Lee and his life....he functions well at work.....sort of.
