Default AO

I recieve a disability for the "presumptive Type II diabetes" related to AO. My primary care Doctor at the VA also diagnsoed me with a condition where there is not Oxgen getting to my blood, and a magnesium defiency which is related to AO exposure. Please don't ask me what the medical term for the lack of Oxgen since it a fifty dollar word that I can just say it's a lack of Oxgen to the blood. Splummer my prayers are with that you can beat this prostate cancer.

Default Steve!

You are supported here my brother. Prostate Cancer can be beaten. Pighumper has it and is doing well. My brother has it and is doing well. They both went with the Radioactive Seeds that are planted in the prostate and both are great. It looks like you've already chosen your treatment path and I would go with radiation anyday before having it cut out. Hang in there and call me if you want to talk more. You used to have my number....it hasn't changed. My adopted son, so to speak, is one of the worlds most renowned Oncologists and Expert in Prostate Cancer. He has been instrumental in studies done for the VA on AO and Prostate Cancer. He is a firm believer. You may want to talk with him before your operation.

Steve
First of all...You are gonna beat it. With that being said. Plan that big road trip down to my place in April then on to the Mtn. like we talked about a few months ago.....Oh yeah one other thing. I might just send a few prayers your way as a back-up

Cancer is for sure an awful scary word. Had one for a while there that was trying to eat my left eye. Sure scared crap outta me. Got it cut out-no further problem so far. My father-in-law came down with prostate cancer awhile back, got treated, and is doing great. He's 89. A friend I worked with-and a Viet vet-also came down with it and had no further problem with it after treatment. Well...he did die, but it wasn't cancer that got him.

You gonna die? Of course. We all do sooner or later. But the smart money sez that you still got a long row to hoe and that it won't be that that finally does you in. Nothing to play around with but they've gotten very good at treating that these days. Angels on your 6 and we're here to hump your ruck as needed.

Thank you every one. Packo, could you PM me your phone number some time? I lost it when my old drinking buddie Travis moved to Texas.

Splummer,

I was diagnosed with prostate cancer 24 months ago. I had the new nerve sparing surgery in April of 06. Everything is fine now. The medical profession has come a long way in treatment.

I did a lot of research when I found out about mine. The recovery rate, whichever procedure you have is over 95%. Those are pretty good odds.

I guess I tend to be an optimist. Got me through a lot of bad times.

Good luck, Pete
