Post Excellent Book

Michael Shaara wrote the book, The Killer Angels. From that book they made the move Gettysburg. Good movie, great book.

I believe Michael is dead now. An any rate, his son Jeff has written a book similar in style called Rise to Rebellion. If your interested in the details of why and how things evolved into a war this is excellent. It covers the period 1770 to 1776 and really turns people like Sam and John Adams, Ben Franklin, Gen. Thomas Gage etc. into real people. I'd recomend it to anyone.

Stay healthy,
Andy

Thumbs up Hey Andy

Jeff also wrote a sequel to Killer Angles - I think it was called Generals and Gods - that was really good. I'll read Rise to Rebellion next. Going to be in Boston in Oct. for business , hope we can meet and have a beer, more details as I get them. Take care, welcome home.

Lightbulb Generals and Gods

Thanks, sounds like one I'd want to read, however right now I just started one that Doc Fred was nice enought to send me. It's about the Great Rebellion of the 1860s. I'm supposed to read it while wearing the coon skin cap he bought me. Hate to wear that hat I have thick brown hair, with the cap on it looks like something is mating with the top of my head.

Stay healthy,
Andy

The best way to put it is "Crushing the Southern Insurgency"!

Seems to me Dan, the insurgents were those northerners.

What Stick & Sid both said! As our Little ole Tennesee Granny Moses stated so well "it was the war between Americans and those Yankee's" (ref. The Beverly Hillbillies)
