In case you didn't know
It is my opinion that too many decisions are made in this country by people that were never elected.
Our government is supposed to be run by Executive, Judicial & Congressional branches. We elect Congress & Executive and they choose Judicial. We do not get to choose the staff for our congressional members. They bring some from home but "learn" from the ones they keep. Our Executives try to choose people to run departments that agree with them philosophically. With the current head of Treasury, people in the State department and others, I didn't think Bush was a socialist who believes the US is supposed to take care of the world! Our judges, (9th circuit, Supreme, etc.) are giving their jobs based on political philosophy. Only at the lower levels can we vote for judges and, when we can, we are not given a great deal of information. The bureaucrats are running this country by sheer numbers and force of will. They are the ones who train our teachers (another entity best left for another rant) so our children don't even know our history much less why we should protect and defend our way of life and freedoms. My introduction to "Green" was a Washington State Department of Ecology presentation where the bottomline on how to save the planet is to reduce the population to a few million. The speaker was unwilling to give up any of his 4 children. These people get government, writing and political jobs so that they can make changes because we'd never elect them. (See Gore Vidal) I have been exchanging emails with a young man that I've known since he was 5 and some of the things that he believes make me want to scream. (edited for clarity and profanity) Joy

What you say is correct. The solution is to vote against all incumbents, all the time, and kick them all out. What we have is a large number of elected-for-life, what's-in-it-for-me, career-politicans, who have no fear of being elected out of office, and can do just about whatever they want. With 50% of the adults in this country too lazy to even register to vote..........it ain't going to happen.

Larry,
The reason I don't think your solution wil work is that all these new people will be voted into positions without the understanding of their capabilities that the entrenched "staff" has. The staff would have too much power while they "train" the new guy. My solution... Put yourself on the email list of your elected representatives. If you don't read them all the time, save them for when an issue you care about comes up and go back and read what they said in the past. If they are inconsistant or disagree with you, LET THEM KNOW. My shortcuts include web addresses for my Congressman & Senators. I have sent emails to all within the last week. Predident & VicePresident feedback pages are also bookmarked. I think there are others posting at this site who do the same. Joy
