Army Sgt. Nathaniel Hart Jr., 29, of Valdosta, Ga.; assigned to the 416th Transportation Company, 260th Quartermaster Battalion, Hunter Army Airfield, Ga.; died of injuries he received when his vehicle went off the road and rolled over on July 28 in Tillil, Iraq.


Army Spc. William J. Maher III, 35, Yardley, Pa.; assigned to the Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 36th Infantry Regiment, 1st Armored Division, Ray Barracks, Germany; killed when he was injured by an improvised explosive device while riding in a convoy on July 28 in Baghdad, Iraq.

Army Staff Sgt. Hector R. Perez, 40, of Corpus Christi, Texas; assigned to Company A, 1st Battalion, 327th Infantry, 101st Airborne Division, in Fort Campbell, Ky.; killed when his convoy came under enemy fire north of Hawd, Iraq, on July 24.


Army Sgt. Juan M. Serrano, 31, Manati, Puerto Rico; assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 37th Armor, 1st Armored Division, Friedberg, Germany; killed while changing a tire on an M998 vehicle when it fell on him and inflicted a fatal head injury, July 24 in Baghdad.


Army Sgt. Juan M. Serrano, 31, of Manati, Puerto Rico; assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 37th Armor, 1st Armored Division, Friedberg, Germany; killed while changing a tire on an M998 vehicle, when it fell on him inflicting a fatal head injury on July 24 in Baghdad.



July 23

Army Capt. Joshua T. Byers, 29, of Nevada; assigned to Headquarters, Headquarters Troop, 2nd Battalion, 3rd Armored Calvary Regiment, in Fort Carson, Co.; killed in action July 23 when his convoy hit an explosive device.


Army Spc. Brett T. Christian, 27, North Royalton, Ohio; assigned to Company C, 2nd Battalion, 502 Infantry, 101st Airborne Div., Fort Campbell, Ky.; died while riding in a convoy that came under attack by rocket-propelled grenades in Mosul, Iraq, on July 23.

Army Spc. Jon P. Fettig, 30, of Dickinson,N.D.; assigned to the 957th Engineer Company (V Corps), Bismarck, N.D.; died when the Heavy Expanded-Mobility Tactical Truck he was in was hit by a rocket-propelled grenade July 22 outside of Ramadi, Iraq.



July 21

Army Cpl. Mark A. Bibby , 25, of Watha, N.C., assigned to Headquarters, Headquarters Detachment, 422 Civil Affairs Battalion, Greensboro, N.C., died when a vehicle in the convoy he was riding with hit an improvised explosive device while traveling to a water treatment facility on July 21 in Baghdad.



July 20

Army Sgt. Justin W. Garvey, 23, of Townsend, Mass., assigned to Headquarters, Headquarters Company, 1-187 Infantry Battalion, Fort Campbell, Ky., was killed during a patrol when the vehicle he occupied was ambushed and struck by a rocket-propelled grenade July 20 at Tallifar, Iraq.

Navy Hospital Corpsman 3rd Class David J. Moreno, 26, of Gering, Neb.; assigned to the Naval Medical Center San Diego, 4th Marine Division Detachment; killed by a non-hostile gunshot wound July 17 in Hamishiyah, Iraq.


Army Sgt. Mason Douglas Whetstone, 30, a Utah native, assigned to the 3d Battalion, 58th Aviation (Forward), Hanau, Germany; killed as a result of non-combat injuries on July 17 in Baghdad.



July 16

Army Spc. Ramon Reyes Torres, 29, Caguas, Puerto Rico; assigned to the 432nd Transportation Company, Cieba, Puerto Rico; killed as he sought cover from a passing truck that contained a command-detonated device, July 16 in Baghdad.

Marine Lance Cpl. Cory Ryan Guerin, 18, of Santee, Calif.; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, Twentynine Palms, Calif.; died in an accident July 15 in Babylon, Iraq. Guerin was standing post on a palace roof when he fell approximately 60 feet.



July 14

Army Sgt. Michael T. Crockett, 27, of Soperton, Ga.; assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 3rd Battalion, 7th Infantry Regiment, Fort Stewart, Ga.; killed July 14 in Baghdad when his patrol came under attack by rocket-propelled grenade.

Army Capt. Paul J. Cassidy, 36, of Laingsburg, Mich.; assigned to the 432nd Civil Affairs Battalion in Wis.; died July 13 as a result of non-combat injuries at Camp Babylon, Iraq.


Army Sgt. Jaror C. Puello-Coronado, 36, of Pocono Summit, Pa.; assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 310th Military Police Battalion, in Uniondale, N.Y.; killed in a traffic accident July 13 at Camp Edson, Iraq. Puello-Coronado was manning a traffic point when the operator of a dump truck lost control of the vehicle and struck him.



July 12

Army Sgt. Roger D. Rowe, 54, of Bon Aqua, Tenn.; assigned to the 1174th Troop Command, in Columbia, Tenn.; killed in an enemy sniper attack July 9 in Iraq.


Marine Lance Cpl. Jason Andrew Tetrault, 20, of Moreno Valley, Calif.; assigned to 7th Marines, 1st Marine Division, Twentynine Palms, Calif.; killed in a vehicle accident in Kuwait July 9.


Army Sgt. Melissa Valles, 26, Eagle Pass, Texas; assigned to Company B, 64th Forward Support Battalion, Fort Carson, Col.; died of non-combat-related injuries July 9 in Balad, Iraq.



July 8

Army Pvt. Robert L. McKinley, 23, of Kokomo, Ind.; assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 101st Aviation Regiment, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Ky.; died of non-combat-related causes July 8 in Homberg, Germany.

July 6

Army Sgt. David B. Parson, 30, Kannapolis, N.C.; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 37th Armored Regiment, 1st Armored Division, Friedburg, Germany; shot and killed while conducting a raid on a house in Baghdad July 6.


Army Spc. Jeffrey M. Wershow, 22, Gainesville, Fla.; assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 124th Infantry Regiment, 1st Armored Division, Orlando, Fla.; shot and killed on July 6 in Baghdad while conducting military operations.



July 3

Army Pfc. Edward J. Herrgott, 20, of Shakopee, Minn.; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 36th Infantry Regiment, 1st Armored Division, Wiesbaden, Germany; died from a gunshot wound while on patrol July 3 in Baghdad.

Marine Cpl. Travis J. Bradach-Nall, 21, of Multnomah County, Ore.; assigned to Combat Service Support Group 11, Camp Pendleton, Calif.; died July 2 near Karbala, Iraq. Bradachnall was killed in an explosion during a mine clearing operation.



July 1

Army 1st Sgt. Christopher D. Coffin, 51, of Bethlehem, Pa.; assigned to the 352nd Civil Affairs Battalion, Riverdale, Md.; died July 1 in a traffic accident on Highway 8 in Iraq. Coffin?s vehicle ran into a ditch while trying to avoid a civilian vehicle.



June 28
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Army Sgt. Timothy M. Conneway, 22, of Enterprise, Ala.; assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, Fort Benning, Ga.; died June 28 as a result of enemy fire in Baghdad. Conneway was traveling in a government vehicle in Baghdad June 26 when an explosive device detonated and struck the vehicle. He died two days later.


Army Pfc. Kevin C. Ott, 27, of Columbus, Ohio; assigned to Battery B, 3rd Battalion, 18th Field Artillery Regiment, Fort Sill, Okla.; killed in action in Iraq sometime between June 25 and June 28.


Army Sgt. 1st Class Gladimir Philippe, 37, of Linden, N.J.; assigned to Battery B, 3rd Battalion, 18th Field Artillery Regiment, Fort Sill, Okla.; killed in action in Iraq sometime between June 25 and June 28.



June 27

Army Cpl. Tomas Sotelo Jr., 20, of Houston, Texas; assigned to Headquarters Troop, 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment, Fort Polk, La.; killed by enemy fire June 27 in Baghdad, Iraq. Sotelo was traveling in a convoy when a rocket-propelled grenade struck his vehicle.



June 26

Army Spc. Corey A. Hubbell, 20, of Urbana, Ill.; assigned to Company B, 46th Engineer Battalion, Fort Rucker, Ala.; died June 26 in Camden Yards, Kuwait, from a non-combat related cause.


Army Spc. Richard P. Orengo, 32, of Toa Alta, Puerto Rico; assigned to the 755th Military Police Company, Arecibo, Puerto Rico; killed by enemy fire June 26 in Najif, Iraq.



June 25

Army Spc. Andrew F. Chris, 25, of San Diego; assigned to Company B, 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, Fort Benning, Ga.; killed June 25 in Iraq. Chris was fatally wounded in combat operations in hostile enemy territory.


Marine Lance Cpl. Gregory E. MacDonald, 29, of Washington, D.C.; assigned to Bravo Company, 4th Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, Frederick, Md.; died when the light armored vehicle he was traveling in rolled over June 25 in Iraq.



June 24

Army Spc. Cedric L. Lennon, 32, of West Blocton, Ala.; assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Troop, 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment, Fort Polk, La.; died June 24 in Baghdad, Iraq, from a non-combat-related cause.



June 22

Army Spc. Orenthial J. Smith, 21, of Allendale, S.C.; assigned to Company A, 123rd Main Support Battalion, Dexheim, Germany; killed by enemy fire on June 22, in Baghdad, Iraq. Smith was in a convoy that was ambushed.



June 19

Army Spc. Paul T. Nakamura, 21, of Santa Fe Springs, Calif.; assigned to 437th Medical Company, based in Colorado Springs, Colo.; killed by enemy fire on June 19 in Iskandariyah, Iraq.



June 18

Army Pfc. Michael R. Deuel, 21, of Nemo, S.D.; assigned to Company B, 2nd Battalion, 325th Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, N.C.; killed June 18, in Baghdad, Iraq. Deuel received fatal gun shot wounds while on guard duty at a propane distribution center.


Army Staff Sgt. William T. Latham, 29, of Kingman, Ariz.; assigned to Troop E, 2nd Squadron, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment, Fort Carson, Colo.; died June 18, at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C. Latham was participating in a raid at a suspected arms market in Ar Ramadi, Iraq, on May 19 when he was hit by shrapnel. Latham was evacuated back to the United States where he died of his wounds.



June 17

Army Pvt. Robert L. Frantz, 19, of San Antonio, Texas; assigned to Company B, 1st Battalion, 36th Infantry Regiment, 1st Armored Division, Ray Barracks, Germany; killed June 17, in Baghdad, Iraq. He was on guard duty when a local resident threw a grenade over the wall. Frantz died of his injuries.


Army Sgt. Michael L. Tosto, 24, of Apex, N.C.; assigned to Company A, 1st Battalion, 35th Armored Regiment, 1st Armored Division, Smith Barracks, Germany; died June 17, at Camp Wolf, Kuwait. He died from a non-combat related cause.



June 16

Army Pvt. Shawn D. Pahnke, 25, of Shelbyville, Ind.; assigned to Company C, 1st Battalion, 37th Armored Regiment, 1st Armored Division, Friedberg, Germany; killed by enemy fire in Baghdad on June 16. Pahnke was on patrol when he received a fatal gunshot wound.


Army Spc. Joseph D. Suell, 24, of Lufkin, Texas; assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters and Service Battery, 5th Battalion, 3rd Field Artillery Regiment, Fort Sill, Okla.; killed June 16 in Todjie, Iraq. He died from a non-combat related cause.



June 15

Marine Pfc. Ryan R. Cox, 19, of Derby, Kan.; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, Marine Corps Air-Ground Combat Center, Twentynine Palms, Calif.; died June 15 as a result of wounds received from a non-combat weapon discharge near Najaf, Iraq.



June 13

Army Staff Sgt. Andrew R. Pokorny, 30, of Naperville, Ill.; assigned to 3rd Air Defense Artillery, 3rd Armor Cavalry Regiment, Fort Carson, Colo.; died June 13 in a vehicle accident in Asad, Iraq. On the way back from patrol, Pokorny?s M113 armored personnel carrier threw a track and went over a 4-foot drop-off on the side of the road, causing the vehicle to roll over.



June 12

Army Spc. John K. Klinesmith Jr., 25, of Stockbridge, Ga.; was assigned to Company C, 2nd Battalion, 14th Infantry Regiment, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum, N.Y.; died June 12 in Fallujah, Iraq. Klinesmith was last seen wading in the lake on the palace compound in Fallujah on June 12. A search was launched and Klinesmith?s body was discovered at the lake.



June 10

Army Pfc. Gavin L. Neighbor, 20, of Somerset, Ohio; assigned to Company C, 3rd Battalion, 325th Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, N.C.; killed by a rocket-propelled grenade in Baghdad, Iraq. Neighbor was off work from guard duty June 10, resting in a bus, when a rocket-propelled grenade round was fired from a nearby house. He died as a result of his wounds.



June 8
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Army Sgt. Michael E. Dooley, 23, of Pulaski, Va.; assigned to 1st Squadron, 3rd Armor Cavalry Regiment, Fort Carson, Colo.; killed on June 8 in Asad, Iraq. Dooley was manning a traffic control point when a vehicle came up to the checkpoint and two individuals got out requesting a medic for their sick friend. Immediately following the request for help, they opened fire on Dooley which resulted in his death.



June 7

Army Pvt. Jesse M. Halling, 19, of Indianapolis, Ind.; assigned to 401st Military Police Company, Fort Hood, Texas; killed in Tikrit, Iraq, June 7. Halling was at a military police station when his unit received rifle-propelled grenade and small arms fire.



June 6

Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Doyle W. Bollinger Jr., 21, of Poteau, Okla.; assigned to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 133, Gulfport, Miss.; killed in Iraq when a piece of unexploded ordnance accidentally detonated in the area he was working.


Army Sgt. Travis L. Burkhardt, 26, of Edina, Mo.; assigned to 170th Military Police Company, Fort Lewis, Wash.; killed on June 6 in Baghdad, Iraq. Burkhardt was part of an escort mission when the vehicle he was in hit a curb along the road and rolled over.



June 5

Army Pfc. Branden F. Oberleitner, 20, of Worthington, Ohio; assigned to Company B, 2nd Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment, Fort Campbell, Ky.; killed by a rifle-fired grenade in Fallujah, Iraq, as he returned from a dismounted patrol.



June 3

Army Sgt. Atanacio Haro Marin, 27, of Baldwin Park, Calif.; assigned to Battery C, 3rd Battalion, 16th Field Artillery Regiment, Fort Hood, Texas; killed by enemy south of Balad, Iraq, June 3.

Marine Sgt. Jonathan W. Lambert, 28, of New Site, Miss.; assigned to the Headquarters Battalion, 1st Marine Division, Camp Pendleton, Calif.; died June 1 at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, Germany, as a result of injuries he suffered May 26 when his Humvee rolled over in Iraq.
