Baseball Trades
So, what do ya'll think of the baseball trades?
Mark Teixeira from the Braves to the Angels, Ken Griffey Jr to the White Sox, Manny Ramirez from Red Sox to Dodgers. Couple of big last-minute surprises in the trades.

It is still hard to understand why cincy would trade Jr to White Sox, but he is happy with it.
Maybe Jr wants a WS Ring. Him and his dad were and still are true players of the Reds. enough.... reeb.......

I'm only mildly surprised that the Sox gave up on Manny Ramirez but then again he gave up on them. For the last month or so he feigned injuries and the word "hustle" only meant a '70's dance step. He said the Sox management didn't treat him well...and the SOB is getting $20 mil/year! The best thing to do with a cancer is to cut it out. I just wish they had gotten at least a minor league prospect plus the outfielder they got from the Pirates.

Rumors have it?
That Griffey will be with the Mariners next year as their designated hitter.
He told a reporter that he wanted to finish his career in Seattle, so the Mariners needing some good solid hitting will be looking for a designated hitter next year. We'll know by next April. Keith |

I was
kinda hopeing that the Rays could have got that guy (Jay) from the Pirates. We could have used his bat, and he plays a pretty good outfield.
Oh well, we'll just have to keep everyone healthy to keep it going like we have. Gimp

Rev,
I don't think the Dodgers will put up with too much of the "Manny circus". Even so, he better be thankful he's going to Joe Torre, and not Tommy LaSorda. He has the potential to help the Dodgers overcome the apparenty "disintegrating" Andruw Jones.

The Yankees pulled a good one by getting Pudge. I hope it's for the long term and not just a Posada temp replacement.
Torre won't take much from Manny. I'd like to see the contract. Wonder if there's a "non-performance" clause. The man doesn't know the meaning of hustle.

Something else, too...Joe Torre's Yankees were always sharp-looking...clean-cut. I'll bet Manny's "dreadlocks" become history!
