The A Shau was a very scary and deadly place. Hats off to you and the other guys who started this operation. Salute to all those who didn't come back. Welcome Home.

I think this was the operation you were going to tell us about a few months back. Are you able to do it now? If not, don't worry, no problem, we understand. Take it easy,

Homie.
Was on my Viet Nam units home page, 3/5 Cav , and noticed we were on this operation. Not me but the3/5 Cav. May 10-21 1969 . Operation Apache Snow. We had units at Bastogne , Blaze, Cannon and Rendezvous. Mission was to provide security for construction of RT 547. Was in there for a few days in 1971 , very scary place. Friend of mine , Frank , spent a lot of time in that valley in 71. Welcome home Homie ! Peace.

Yes the 3/5th Cav was involved in Apache Snow and were awarded the PUC along with all the assigned and attached units of the 3rd Brigade of the 101st involved in the battle for Hamburger Hill. I have a copy of the PUC in my gallery. Steve, No, the operation I will get into was Operation Montgomery Rendezvous which started the day Apache Snow ended. On 7/11/69 during this operation my company (D 1/506) along with Bco 1/506, Cco 2/506 and 1/506 HHC fought a two day battle for Hill 996. Gordon R. Roberts of Bco 1/506 won the CMH for his actions that day. I'll get into it on July 10th. the day we CA'ed to Hill 996.
