The Moving Wall celebrates those lost in Vietnam War

BAMBERG -- Will Gunnells shades his eyes from the sun as he scans the
58,228 names on The Moving Wall, a half-size replica of the Vietnam
Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C.

The replica, which arrived in Bamberg Friday, has been on tour for
close to 20 years and is currently on display at the Ness Sports
Complex.

Gunnells, a Bamberg native, observed his 21st birthday while serving
in the Vietnam War.

"I was an old man compared to some of those 18- and 19-year-olds,"
Gunnells said, reflecting on the names etched in The Wall. "These guys
died keeping their buddies alive."

Ten years ago, Gunnells visited the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in
Washington.

"It was a very, very moving experience to see The Wall in Washington,"
Gunnells said, "and it is an honor for it to come here to Bamb...
