Boats you are dead right I have lost three shipmates to asbestoes and five more are fighting it now. it was everywhere on the ship

It may be related to lung cancer but if you're a smoker you will play hell getting them to OK benefits. I think there is a test they can do in your lungs to see if it was asbestos or smoking that's killing you. Yea I still smoke and I shouldn't but so far the only cancer I got was bladder type and this could've been from exposure to agent orange they are telling me.

I used to sleep under the No. 3 catch wire and during flight ops being in the top bunk you would wake up in the morning covered in white asbestos dust. I'm sure when I get my ortopsy they will find asbestos in me - but for now I'm grateful to just be alive and kicking.

Boats, us sailors delt with that stuff up untill the early 80's, we wore no gloves or masks, applied it with our bare hands in most cases. Be I have some floating around in me too!

For what's it worth, my division slept under the three wire as well, it ran right through our berthing area. I had a middle bunk.
