First Annual 'GI Film Festival' Announces Call for Entries

ARLINGTON, January 23, 2007 - Seeking films that highlight the worldwide struggle for liberty and/or the courage of American soldiers from the American Revolution through the war in Iraq

Arlington, Virginia ? The First Annual GI Film Festival will be held on Memorial Day Weekend, May 26-28, 2007, at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center in Washington, DC.

The festival will present both classic and premier films that depict the worldwide struggle for freedom and democracy and/or the courage and selflessness of American service men and women.

The GI Film Festival is currently seeking film submissions from international and domestic filmmakers. All film submissions will be processed by Withoutabox.com, a film submission consultant to more than 2,600 film festivals worldwide. The postmarked deadline for all entries is April 1, 2007. The festival will present awards for the top films in three main categories: Narrative
Feature, Feature Documentary, and Short films.

Overall, the three-day GI Film Festival will include:

? Movie screenings by international and domestic filmmakers.
? An Awards presentation featuring a special celebrity major motion picture screening.
? A ?War Stories? educational panel featuring stories of heroism from the front lines.
? Q&A sessions with best-selling authors and award-winning filmmakers.
? A VIP cocktail reception.
? Press junket, exhibitions, Hollywood ?meet and greets,? and more?

?The GI Film Festival is the first and only film festival to exclusively honor the American soldier through the medium of film,? said GI Film Festival President Brandon Millett. ?Filmmakers are encouraged to submit any film that generally depicts soldiers in a positive light, or celebrates the values of freedom and democracy to which our service men and women have dedicated their lives.?

The GI Film Festival?s Hollywood Advisory Committee includes Academy Award winning Actor Ernest Borgnine (From Here to Eternity, McHale?s Navy), Actor Chuck Norris (Delta Force,
Missing in Action), Academy Award nominated Director John Milius (Apocalypse Now, Red Dawn), Director Screenwriter Ron Maxwell (Gettysburg, Gods and Generals), Director John Dahl (The
Great Raid), and Dr. Ted Baehr, publisher of Movieguide. The festival?s Military Advisory Committee is led by 4-Star General (Ret.) Larry Ellis (U.S. Army).
