A Call Back To Integrity [opinion]

INTEGRITY - ?Uprightness of character and honesty....?

Like a ghost out of ?Christmas Past?, Genuine (every-day) Integrity, although seldom found in today?s society in an un-bastardized form, still lurks (like hope) just below the surface of despair! And without integrity, any being, and even the system that he exists under, slowly rots away, like an uncontrolled cancer!

The lie (or agenda if you prefer) has no place amidst the walls of integrity. Nor do the intentionally vested, the corrupt, the hypocrite, the user, or those who stealthily slither along amidst the noble and idealistic - for these people seek to mask their shame deep within the masses! These predators only venture forth (like the piranha), from deep cover, to strike at their victim?s backs!

The cover that these creatures call home is far too often encapsulated within a temporary title, a position of trust, abusive power, or finance for the sake of finance alone! They infect not only themselves and some outside of their webs of influence, but indeed, even their fellow cell-mates, until one can not distinguish where the healthy ends and the disease begins. ?That point in which the line has been blurred or eradicated, and the grotesque becomes the accepted and the norm!?

Unfortunately, the arts of destruction, although plentiful in some far removed (foreign) bastions, are not totally absent from our own democratic existence. To some, even here in the United States, self has become overpowering. These people feel that the world and all that it contains (and I am not talking about money alone here) belongs to them, and them alone! And to attain these transient trappings, they will do anything, hurt anyone, and even wallow about in a slime of moral decay, while continuing to present a Cheshire smile and a gleaming facade to those whom they seek to beguile, mislead, betray, and eventually destroy! ?Ah, how much evil has been performed under an expensive veil of righteousness!?

And the worse denizen of all, in this jungle of deception, is the liar! For this coward seek to accomplish through betrayal and position, what he would not dare to attempt with confrontation or truth! For his (or her) territory lies amidst the darkness of their inner being and the fantasy of absolute control. A Realm where ?Truth, the Golden Rule, and Common Humanity? are his only deadly foes.

Many have risen to lofty positions, but not all by virtue of their talent, dedication, or the desire to improve the world?s lot! Rather, far too many have clawed their way upwards (or is that down) through corrupting connections, the selling of soul, or worse yet, the craving to destroy and cause ill!

?Who are these moral cretins?, and how do they get away with their odious deed? They are usually mere specters of humanity, who by virtue of fate or chance (if you prefer), have wormed their way into positions of authority and/or responsibility (real or imaginary)! Human-beings (in name only), who by misusing their ill-gotten station, satiate naught but their own lusts, their grandiosity and their bellies. And they do this by feeding upon the life?s blood of others, usually the trusting!

Am I talking about anyone in particular here, within a particular bureaucracy perhaps (Maybe?)! Or are these "Human Chameleons" to be found at all levels and within many endeavors? ?What do you think??

The world is loaded with good people! Unfortunately, however, a few well placed skunks can still stink up a whole lot of territory!!
