Talking new rifle

Well my wandering fingers did it again. While surffing the net I found a cool web site called Auctionarms.com man is that a great place to dream about the next gun you don't really need. Well I just bought a brand new 1958 model 100 winchester in .308 cal. there are a boat load of pictures and I already have a deal worked out with my New local gun dealer to have it shipped to his store. Now I have to find a suitable scope for it, I'm thinking a 3x9 leopold will do just fine. I now have to clean out my gun safe for this beautiful work of art. well looks like a couple of my old shotguns will have to be placed behind the seat of my pickup again. because my wife knows approx how many firearms i have but dosen't pay much attention to what they are just the volumn of space they take up. can't wait to pick this baby up.Deer look out here i come.

Default Ordered a new rifle also

Haven't gotten it yet. Phillip got stationed in Alaska at Ft Richardson in September so I thought Big Bear Hunt. Figured could also use it for Elk hunting, so I ordered a new Browning BLR in the new .325 WSM. Apparently this is a very hot item and they are going like hotcakes from the dealers. Mine has been on order for almost 3 months now. Going to mount a 6X Kahles scope on it and use the 200 gr Nosler Accubond bullet.

Default Can't beat a .308 for deer

Chris you will love your .308. I have a BLR 81 in 308 and it is my hunting buddy. If it absolutly positively has to die the .308 is going out. Have dropped 3 Elk and numerous whitetails with mine. I use a 150 gr Nosler Partition for whitetails and a 165 Nosler Partition for Elk.

A fine rifle in a fine caliber. Had one for several years myself, also in .308, and it made a good thicket rifle. Never jammed or failed to function. Unfortuneately mine had about a 9# triggerpull and I was unable to fine anyone locally who could work it over. Eventually traded it off because of that. But it never failed to kill deer when I did my part.

Post Chris,

The Model 100 had a defective firing pin. Winchester will replace it for free. Has yours been replaced? If not get it replaced. You don't want it to break when you are hunting.

I just got back from the woods and shooting my rifle for the first time Sweet except that it shoots to the left and low with open sites so it looks like now I have a good excuse to get a new scope. the answer is yes I could adjust the open site but I sure do like a good scope. if ya know what I meen.
