Thank you all . It's been a hell of a long day. Sid just came over and shared a tear. Sharon and Lisa are in Nashville helping Grand ma. I am alone and see and hear Bart every few seconds. The Vet called at 5 pm and said he has kidney failure. I told him I wanted him home but he said it would be better for Bart to stay there and get some kind of flush and see what happens tomorrow. I'll miss my friend tonight and pray for his comfort. I am in a daze.If he is going I want to be holding him. 0nce again thank you all for the support and kindness as I stumble down this fucking path. I remember Grunt also Fred - he is a true Grunt. I can't imagine what you and Scamp have gone through but it really helps me to hump this ruck too. Thanks to all in this cyber family . Sure is quite tonight.

Unhappy LT.

You know I'll drop a prayer and am ALWAYS here to help you carry your ruck, my friend.

I was exactly where you are now right after New Years. We picked up our guys [3] from the kennel after being gone for the holidays and noticed Duke, our 14yr. old Scottie, was alittle off his food. Within 2 days he wasn't getting out of bed. Took him to the vet, and like your "Son", was having kidney failure. After 2 days, the vet told us it would be inevitable. They couldn't keep his kidney from shutting down. He told us that he could give us some meds for him and send him home, but we'd be lucky to get another 2wks. out of him. Also said it wasn't a very comfortable way to go. I made the decision to have him put down right then. He put the injection into the IV that he was already hooked up to, and I held his head, looking into his eyes, and told him I loved him. The light just kinda dimmed and he went very peacefully. I was the last thing he saw, and he knew that he was loved. I've always found comfort in that, although I cried for days. That's okay. I've missed my dogs ALOT more than some of the people that have passed through my life.

We've always had 2 or more dogs in the house. Couldn't imagine life without one. They're definately a gift. Sometimes it doesn't seem fair that they don't get to live as long as we do. On the other hand, we get to enjoy the company and love from several of them during our lives.

We're back up to 3. About 6wks. ago the lady that grooms our 2 Norwich Terriers asked us if we would care to have another one. Her name is Ruby, and she is the sister of our guy, Rags. We couldn't turn her down. She's adapted quite well, and has already put her brother and our other guy, Rocky, into their places. Good thing that Norwichs are one of the few terriers that get along well in groups.

John, I truly hope that things turn around. Keep us posted. We ALL care.
