“I can not help but be amazed at how soon we all forget!” Not everyone, after all, can be a hero who is dripping with medals and accolades – there just has to be a few Indians amongst all of those wanna-be chiefs and moguls!

And this is exactly to whom this piece is dedicated - to the Common Joes and Jills who served with honor and courage within “Our Nation’s Military”, and then return home to no bugles, parades, or even accolades! The everyday troopers and sailors who answered their nation’s call, served with honor, and then came home, not to marching bands, but rather to silence or even derision after the drums had ceased to roll and our war dead were all but forgotten! So when anyone, anywhere, makes light of any “American Trooper’s dedication and sacrifices”, past, present, or future alike, let me remind them that “But for the grace of God”, it could be you “or yours” that is being folded into the continuing pages of our history, and then quickly forgotten!

So how about it Mr. President, Congress and every other genuine citizen who still retains the power to think - isn’t it about time that we all begin to once again walk the walk of real men and patriots? For we are Americans and in the entire universe, there isn’t anything at all that even remotely approaches that honor! And always remember this: “It is hard as Hell to grab hold of a star, but it is twice as difficult to maintain your grip once you finally have it within your often trembling hands!” by - H.
