Update - Pow/purple Heart!!
As I mentioned previously, I contacted the current president, ?ALL? 100 United States Senators, a former senator from the Tar Heel State, a few congressmen, and even a war hero or two on this issue! Out of these numbers (and more), those who have responded back thus far, to the man or woman, expressed their support!! After contacting most of my wife?s surviving uncles, one mentioned that he thought (?) that their brother (Corporal Melvin Morgan) - who died in a POW camp in 1950, NK) had been awarded the Purple Heart? However, none of the other kin had any such recollections, and none were in possession of the award or the citation! As a matter of fact, the government itself made no mention of this award (Purple Heart) ever being awarded, even though the Combat Infantryman?s Badge, the Prisoner of War Medal, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nation?s Service Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal were listed as being awarded to Morgan! I then contacted Shorty (jan71991), also a POW/Korea, Tiger Group, and was informed that ?MANY? who died of starvation, beatings, etc in Korea, were ?NOT? awarded this medal! Also, nowhere in the documentation sent to me from the Army, did it list a Purple Heart being awarded to Melvin Morgan, even though it did list the other medals listed above! As the Army and DPMO do not list this Medal, I must assume that it was never awarded to many of those who perished in POW facilities from starvation, beatings etc, which brings us back to square one - ?WHY NOT!?? ?And it is for these men, that I will continue to fight, as they no longer can fight for themselves!? For the record, out of the 100 Senators (and others) that we contacted, we have received computer reports (only) from about 17! Of these, we have personally talked with staff members of Senator Edwards, Senator Dole, Senator Kerry, Ex-Senator Robert Morgan and Senator Boxer, all of whom have assured us of their support, and/or investigation! That leaves some 83 Senators, and a few congressmen that have not yet responded in any fashion! We have also received a standard (automated) response back from President Bush, noting that our e-mail was received at the White House! "I am sure that he will address this issue!" :cd: VERITAS

Good news
Hardcore.
I've sent letters to my Senators (Graham & Nelson) as well as my Congressman (Billirakis), and to my former Senator Max Clelland (out of politics now but still active in Veterans affairs). Hopefully this miscarrige of justice will be corrected ASAP! PS.......Don't hold your breath waiting for a response from the Whitehouse!
