From MIAP
New York MIAP Mission with Dignity Memorial Providers. The Missing in America Project, Dignity Memorial and the City of New York have partnered together to inter the unclaimed indigent and homeless veterans currently being stored in coroner’s offices around the city. The first mission is scheduled for 8 January at 11 am at Calverton cemetery. The bodies of 30 veterans will be transported to the cemetery by a Dignity Memorial Funeral Director and hearse where they will receive the military honors they have earned. Future missions will follow as there are a total of fifty nine veterans currently being stored. All are invited to attend the ceremony at the cemetery MIAP was requested by the Department of Veterans Cemetery Affairs and the New York City Mayors office. Our national Memorandum of Understanding with Dignity immediately partnered all of these groups together to conduct this mission to honor those veterans who cannot speak for themselves or have family to help. Linda Smith has coordinated this event with Chris March of the Dignity Memorial Group. A lot of effort and contact with the City of New York was needed. Thank to everyone involved to finalize this event Fred "Ducpho" Salanti Missing in America Project Executive Director Website: www.miap.us |

Three more...
The MIAP Escort Team will be down from Redding to help us with the escort of 3 Veterans to be interred at the Veterans Circle in Hartley Cemetery on Saturday March 5th at 1300 hrs.
The PGR and MIAP will stage behind Block Buster Video's on Lakeport Blvd. at 1230 and KSU at 1245! The service starts at the Veterans Circle at 1300 hrs. 1. U.S. Army, James Morris, has an interesting story behind him. It seems he was wounded on a battle field in Italy during WWll and lost his Dog Tags. Several years later, a gentleman in Italy was using a metal detector looking for old artifacts and found his Dog Tag. His Daughter requested we hold off on his interment until they received the Dog Tag so it could be buried with him. So, James Morris will have his Dog Tag with him when we inter him. 2. Jerry Sitter, Army National Guard. 3. VVA member here in Lakeport, Allen Fraser(Al) May they all find piece in their final resting place in the Veterans Circle. There are too many of our comrades that are still on shelves, forgotten and waiting to be discovered and given the proper Military Burial they so deserve. It's the Right Thing to Do !!
