Default Jerry Reed is gone...

...a great singer and actor.

I'll always remember him from the "Smokey and the Bandit" movies

as the truck-drivin' CLEDUS (the Snowman) SNOW with his

floppy-eared dog FRED.

RIP, Jerry, and thanks for all the great laughs and entertainment!

When did this happen? What is with all the good comedians dying this year?

Default One of my favorite

country music artists of all time!

Smokey & the Bandit was filmed in north Georgia and I got to meet Jerry Reed in a little road side restaurant on Georgia highway 115 between Dalonega and Cleveland, GA. while they were filming the movie. He was the real deal!

Funny as hell and a real Southern hoot & holler!

Where's ya "twenty" Snowman?

"East bound and down, loaded up and truckin'
a'we gonna do what they say can't be done
We've got a long way to go and a short time to get there
I'm east bound just watch ol'Bandit run

Keep your foot hard on the peddle...son, never mind them brakes
let it all hang out cause we've got a run to make
The boys are thirsty in Atlanta, and there's beer in Texarcana
and we'll bring it back no matter what it takes

East bound and down, loaded up and truckin'
a'we gonna do what they say can't be done
We've got a long way to go and a short time to
"

May he rest in peace. We'll miss him.

Gimp,

Thanks for that clip!

That's exactly the way I'll always remember Jerry!

Default Rigger,...

No doubt will be missed by MANY, and rightfully so.
Seemed like an actor not actually acting, and just being himself.
Just like John Wayne mostly did,...and/or whom neither would
have ever acted as or portrayed some whuss.

Still, have about same questions as Gunner-Carvo?
Plus, how old was Jerry? Can't believe he was all that very old?

Neil

Jerry Reed was a phenomenal guitarist. He was a student of Chet Atkins and every bit his equal. Besides being a gifted actor and comedian, he was a monster on the guitar. Can't believe he's gone at 71. Although he's best known for his Country music background he is right up there and beyond guys like Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Jimi Hendrix, Buster B. Jones, John Renborn, Stefan Grossman, and on and on. Truly a master and guitar giant.

Neil,

He died Monday in Nashville, Tennessee of complications from emphysema shortly after completing the album The Gallant Few, a charity record raising money for wounded veterans. He is survived by Priscilla, his wife of 49 years, two daughters, Sedina and Lottie, and two grandchildren. He was 71 years old.

At least they let him stay to finish it.
