Default A long, long time ago.

But, still like it was just yesterday. November 5, 1967..........36 years ago tonight at 8:05 P.M. on a dusty litlle bike trail in a place called the "bowling alley" with rice paddies on both sides, in the Mekong Delta, all hell broke loose.

As I've said before, several good men on both sides died that night, and my life was changed forever. Didn't think I was gonna make it out alive either..............but for the grace of God and "Doc" (the best damn medic that ever walked the face of this earth) I would have left this earth with those heros that died night.

I don't drink anymore, (thanks to Bill W), but for those of you that do I'd appreciate "toast" tonight at 8:05 P.M. for those wonderful young men of A company, 2nd. Battlion, 60th Infantry Brigade, 9th Infantry Division that did not make it that night. I'll be sittin on the porch and toasting them with a little diet coke along with my lady Jackie (the OTHER reason I'm still here, thank God for her) at that time.

Thanks guys and gals. And......God bless our troops...past & present!

8:05? I can do that. Happy to. I'll try again at 8:15, 8:30 and 8:45 - just to be sure. Better try a few warm-ups around 7:00 too.

Default Gimpy,

Rest assured my old friend that I will do that. It will be an honor and a privledge, especially for my dear Southern Brother.

Airborne my friend!

Packo

PS The "Jack"(ie) you'll be with tonight is much better for you than the "Jack" you used to pour.
