thanks dmz-lt yea it was good to get out of there not much there when i left but really a big improvement now. been back twice 98 and 04. got to go to the punch bowl in 04 with some marines
enjoyed that trip even got a coin from general laporte that time

thanks jery d i like ur bottom line about the civil war my son at tinker air base ( corp of engineers civil engineer) studies the civil war and collect things of that period ive sent that line to him

thanks raggedy ann at the print shop where i retired from worked i brought home a can of raggedy ann spray starch that we used in a printing promotion still got it on my shelf dont know what its worth right now probably a little bit to someone havent tried to find out as yet

psywarone, I don't remember where I read that quote but at the time around Atlanta they were trying to Develop some land that still has the earthen defenses clearly marked out and it would have been a waste for history to have bulldozed them out of existence. If your son takes a trip up to Wilson Battlefield near Springfield MO he will be able to see one of the best preserved battlefields in the western theater of the War Between the States. They have a good Museum there also.

jerry my son went to rolla durning his younger years and he visited that battle field he grew up in lexington missouri with all the civil war things there i keep buying him books and sending them to him also thanks for the comeback
