The "inside" of Florida that is!

Let me tell you a story about "sibling" or "brotherly" love that will warm the hearts of all you so-called folks of the "compassionate" conservative following.


Four long years after Florida made Afghanistans' election look like democracy's answer to the new season of "fear factor"! This state appears headed for yet another mother of all electoral boondoggles!


Following Jeb Bush's and Katherine Harris's 2000 Three Card Monte Game of 2000, bi-partisan election experts of all stripes and party affiliations submitted a list of proposals to prevent The Kim Jong Il of Florida (Jeb Bush) from offering up a similar disaster in 2004.


You think he listened to all those "bi-partisan" experts??


Look folks, this isn't landing on the moon, or performing brain surgery, or even trying to get GEE-W to speak in full sentences. It's merely the simple exercise of conducting an honest, verifiable election and counting ballots for Gods sake!


So you would think that rather than run the risk of again being cast (once again!) as less capable of pulling off a fair election than the leader of Libya, the political powers under the direction of our esteemed, fearless Guvnor hisseff, Jeb Bush, that he would make SURE Florida would have gotten their act together in spite of themselves.


NOT!


Among the reforms suggested by the "experts", which were ignored by little brother Jeb and his people in Tallahassee were:

A government requirement for an online registry of voters statewide.

Uniform voting machines statewide, which also provide a paper trail for verification. (Yes, you're right, a ``duh'' would fit rather nicely right about here.)

Some suggestions, such as new voting machines and better training for poll workers, have been implemented. Isn't that special?

However, at least one-third of all the proposals to help Florida avoid being compared favorably with the autocratic forms of governments attempting to control the world of the 1930's and 1940's when it comes to free and fair and accountable elections have yet to see the light of day - with only one week before Nov. 2 ???

1,453 DAYS!

WHAT THE HELL HAVE THEY BEEN DOING?

Is pulling off an election a big job? Sure it is.


Are mistakes made from time to time? Absolutely.


However, pulling off elections is supposed to be the one and only job of county elections supervisors (of both political affiliations) across the state.


But, at the very same time, within the secretary of state's office (Jeb Bushs' hand picked choice to replace Katherine Harris from the 2000 debacle), there is a Division of Elections tasked to do, (a drum roll & - ta-dah! -goes here now!)...........guess what?


Elections stuff for Gods sake.!


Yet four years removed from Floridas' 2000 disaster, once again this state stands on the brink of becoming the laughingstock of world.


Why, because "little bro" Jeb either wouldn't or couldn't get the job done correctly!

Sounds like a family "trait", huh?

So far there are 58,000 MISSING absentee ballots in Broward county, thousands of absentee ballots that have page 2 of the ballot "missing" and will be invalid when mailed back, or turned back in Pinellas county (St Petersburg)..........and the beat goes on, and on, and on!
