Well Nancy and Arrow, I must thank you both for your kind words.
I must also explain that my recent post was not a lament or complaint. On my return from Paradise, I left the Army, never wore my uniform again and never looked back. Well almost never.
That's why I'm here.

Hi, Doc....Thanks!

I am so excited that you decided to join us at the IWVPA. Your page looks great! But, your one poem looks so lonely on your index page. Surely, you must have some others you would like to send to Tony. Don't sell yourself short, Doc. You are very talented.....whether in a silk bathrobe or in your birthday suit...lol

To me, your post seemed more like a "resignation".....that since you hadn't received a welcome home from a civilian after all these years, more than likely you never would. Apparantly, you were all right with that.......but I wasn't. So, thank you for reading my post and for being so receptive to my humble expressions of gratitude.

But tell the truth now. Even if you decided to drag out that uniform and put it on, would it still fit? I know my husband's wouldn't. He's gained forty-five pounds over the years and his shoulders have gotten a lot broader.

I just tried my coat on. As on as it got. Damn, I was a lot smaller back then. I've put on about 40 lbs and an inch in height since those days.
Not that long ago a buddy from basic training stopped by. We reminised over a cup of coffee and decided, had we passed on the sidewalk the day before, we wouldn't recognize each other.
My 40th high school class reunion was similar. Everyone was so fat and bald they didn't recognize me.
