Alright! We got another Irish fan here. No doubt ND is taking the title this year in football.

You didn't watch them when they had Holtz? He was the man. A great motivator. I can see that in Charlie Weis. If Notre Dame doesn't win the National Championship this year, I don't know when they'll win it.

ND football stats
Ara Parseghian 95 games in the W side 10 years 1964-74

Knute Rockne 108 games in the W side 13 years 1918-31

One more year and Ara would have beat Knute's record and ND could not have that, So Ara got fired because he was to good?????
And I stopped watching ND football.

They did the same thing to Holtz. He was 100-32-2 with the Irish, second only to Rockne before they made him leave. Even if they would have let Parseghian and Holtz beat the record, Rockne still would have been a Notre Dame legend. No question about it.

But ND is creating the hero in Rockne, although he was good, He wasn't anywhere near the best. Holtz or Parseghian are much better motivators of young people, False records or perseptions reminds me of taking steroids to hit more homeruns.
ND is never going to let Rockne's record be beaten and thats not right. Just think of that coach that could win 300 games and doesn't even apply at ND because he has no chance of getting to that figure. When you manipulate the history of a great university like ND you cheapen its history.
I'll watch Northwester. Well maybe not Northwestern, But Not ND either.
