Trump taking half a billion dollars from children of military families to pay for his wall
By: Dan Desai Martin - Shareblue Media - 9-5-19
RE: https://shareblue.com/trump-half-bil...s-border-wall/

The Pentagon will take money meant for schools and child care centers to build a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border.

During the 2016 campaign, Trump promised Mexico would pay for a border wall. But on Wednesday, the Pentagon announced that more than half a billion dollars will be taken from schools for military families to build the wall.

The Pentagon is taking $13 million meant for a child development center at Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland, and using it to build a wall. Ft. Campbell Middle School in Indiana was scheduled to receive more than $62 million for construction projects, but that money will be taken by the Pentagon.

In Puerto Rico, a U.S. territory that has been ravaged by hurricanes in recent years, the Ramey Unit School will have to do without $61 million for planned activities.

And it is not just military families in the U.S. who will sacrifice even more for Trump's racist whim — military families overseas will also feel a pinch. In Japan, Kinnick High School and Bechtel Elementary School will lose out on a combined $134.8 million. Military families in Germany and the U.K. will also lose out on hundreds of millions of dollars for schools there.

"Canceling military construction projects to pay for a wasteful border wall is yet another example of [Trump] putting his own vanity projects before the American people," Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA), wrote on Twitter following the news. "His disregard for the brave men & women who serve our country is un-American & should infuriate us all."

In total, the Pentagon will take $3.6 billion from 127 military projects around the globe in order to build a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border. And $557 million comes from schools and child care facilities for military families.

Thanks to Trump, military families will be forced to sacrifice better schools for their children. Meanwhile, Mexico has not paid a dime toward the wall, despite Trump's campaign promises.

Full list of school and educational facilities losing funding to pay for the border wall:

Child Development Center at Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland: $13 million
Ft. Campbell Middle School in Indiana: $62.6 million
Ramey Unit School in Puerto Rico: $61 million
Butner Elementary School in North Carolina: $32.9 million (the Pentagon notes this project was "previously canceled.")
Croughton Elementary/Middle/High School Replacement in the United Kingdom: $71.4 million
Kinnick High School in Japan: $40 million
Bechtel Elementary School in Japan: $94.8 million
Clay Kaserne Elementary School in Germany: $56 million
Robinson Barracks Elementary School in Germany: $46.6 million
Spangdahlem Elementary School in Germany: $79.1 million

A full list of projects the Pentagon is raiding to pay for the wall can be found on this site: https://www.washingtonpost.com/conte...-dbed0fefe250/

Boats,
It doesn't matter how Dan Desai Martin or any other:"Trump Haters" put it. As one of MANY (actually most Americans) INFIDELS and/or primary WORLDWIDE Targets of Opportunity for millions; "Sworn to Allah" to kill us ALL (men, women, children & even babies) at every opportunity possible,...it's unarguable that the United States of America needs Safe & Secure Borders (as most all other nations on earth have),...NO MATTER WHAT THE COST!!!

Those well-intended whom have been duped into espousing Differently (as in preferring wide open borders) are just bravely-naive fools (at best).

Those NOT well-intended whom fanatically insist on wide open borders and President Trump to FAIL are no doubt America's Worst Enemies of all.

Such types are Enemies to America's Safety & Security whether coming from Afghanistan, China, Iran, North Korea, Washington, DC, or even Hollywood (no ifs, ands or buts).

Even more sadly, many in academe & mainstream press/media NOT VERY HELPFUL towards America's Safety & Security either. Sad, sad, sad.

Neil

Arrow Trump drains US spending in Europe to pay for wall with Mexico

Trump drains US spending in Europe to pay for wall with Mexico
By: Joe Gould , Sebastian Sprenger & Valerie Insinna - Defense News
RE: https://www.defensenews.com/congress...News%20Roundup

WASHINGTON — The Pentagon will defer spending $771 million meant to shore up Europe’s defensive posture against Russia to fund President Donald Trump’s U.S.-Mexico border barrier.

The announcement is sure to jar European allies, where NATO members have nervously watched the president’s on-again, off-again commitment to the alliance. And it could deal a blow to the narrative among allies that Trump’s boisterous rhetoric should be taken with a grain of salt, given that money has kept flowing from Washington despite trans-Atlantic disagreements.

Half of the $3.6 billion for the border wall would come from dozens of U.S. military construction projects, and the other half would come from projects in Europe and the Pacific. In Europe, there were roughly 40 projects, including training facilities for special forces in Estonia and aviation infrastructure in Germany, Hungary and Slovakia.

The Trump administration is gambling that Congress and allies will eventually restore the money. But the maneuver will weaken NATO efforts to deter Russia, feed growing doubts that America would come to Europe’s defense and undermine extensive plans to strengthen NATO’s eastern flank, according to former U.S. Ambassador to NATO Ivo Daalder, now president of the Chicago Council on Global Affairs.

“If you looked at the state of the alliance, you could say the bad news was the president’s rhetoric was problematic for alliance unity, but the administration’s growing investment suggested on a sub-political level the alliance was getting stronger,” Daalder said Thursday. “I can no longer make that argument because we’ve just [signaled] we’re going to cut back on that investment.”

On Thursday, Trump’s political opponents highlighted how the move follows his recent decisions to hold up $250 million in military aid to Ukraine and to abruptly cancel his trip to Poland to deal with Hurricane Dorian, sending Vice President Mike Pence in his place. Trump had been scheduled to attend an event last weekend remembering the anniversary of Nazi Germany’s invasion of Poland, which led France and Britain to declare war two days later.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., said he found it “galling and appalling” that Trump had secured multiple wins for an “American foe,” Russian President Vladimir Putin, in just two weeks.

“President Trump is, yet again, putting Vladimir Putin before the security of the American people and our allies,” Schumer said. “Cutting the funding used to reinforce our trusted European allies against Russian aggression in order to advance the president’s politically motivated vanity project — that he promised Mexico would pay for — is outrageous, wrong and weakens our national security. Congress will not stand for the president usurping our exclusive power of the purse.”

The targeted projects in Poland illustrate how the seemingly disparate list of smaller construction plans — a runway here, an ammo-storage bunker there — is actually part of a larger strategy, coordinated with NATO, to strengthen Europe’s defensive posture along the eastern front. Putting anything about a “rail extension and rail head” on the table — some line items is named — could jeopardize ongoing plans for a cross-border transportation network capable of delivering heavy weaponry deep into Poland.

Such a staging area is envisioned by NATO officials near the country’s town of Powidz. Defense News previously reported that the site’s rail connectivity is vital to the alliance’s plan for a major ground-forces hub.

“Until the railhead is developed, it will be a limiting factor,” retired Lt. Gen. Ben Hodges, a former commander of U.S. Army forces in Europe, told Defense News earlier this year as the Trump administration made a previous attempt to siphon funds away from Polish rail work.

Notably, the Pentagon’s list also curtails funding meant for storage facilities where the service could pre-position “deployable airbase systems,” or DABS. The Air Force had planned to build such warehouses — which would store vehicles, temporary housing and other equipment needed to whip up an expeditionary airfield — at Spangdahlem Air Base, Germany; Sanem, Luxembourg; and Royal Air Force Fairford, England. All have been deferred.

During a July interview, Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Dave Goldfein pointed to “base-in-a-box” concepts like DABS as an example of how the Air Force could better disperse operations in Europe, as well as other regions such as the Asia-Pacific and Africa.

The delayed programs were largely chosen either because they were upgrades or replacements to existing facilities, a senior defense official told reporters in a Pentagon briefing Wednesday, or because their contract award dates are not scheduled for a year or more.

“We remain committed to supporting our allies and partners,” Air Force spokeswoman Ann Stefanek said. “The affected projects are still authorized and important but have been identified as having delays that would allow their deferment without immediate impact to our mission.”

One official from an allied nation whose project is listed said the U.S. State Department privately communicated that it would work to secure other unspecified funds to avoid construction delays, and that there was no request for it to replace any of the diverted funding. That official expressed frustration at the administration’s mixed messages.

Aaron Mehta of Defense News and Meghann Myers of Military Times contributed to this report.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Personal note: It seem's Trumps (aka: Great Wall of China) is his only priority. Our troops need this money to defend themselves & what's left of our NATO Allies. To do otherwise could result in US & NATO bases - for which I feel are more important than this Mexico border (at this time)! He's only doing this because he can not that its really necessary at this time. Border patrols can cover the areas not fenced until more money is available.
He's got it wrong once again. Our bases - soldiers & NATO defense are "more important now" - not later. His egotistical mindset needs a brain scan to make sure he's firing on all cylinders. To do otherwise could be his shortcomings.

Boats,
Same-o, same-o as previously stated for this other article also knocking President Trump's efforts at trying to Protect ALL Americans from Criminally Illegal Aliens, Drugs, Smugglers and such (Deadly Terrorists inclusive), now easily sneaking into America at will through the Mexican border.

Obviously Fanatical Democrats hate Trump so-damn-much that they insist on Wide Open Borders & National Suicide,...rather helping Him (PLUS America) Secure Our Borders.

Are Dem Career Ruling Elite NUTS?

I think he's nuts because our Military should come first not his Monumental Wall. We have enough personal to cover the areas not fenced for now. Fix our overseas bases first then finish the wall.

You really think the wall is going to stop them. They've been smuggling dope in for decades and will continue to do so. They will go around the wall - under the wall - or in from Canada or the Gulf.

Our Military must come first!! He can finish Monument to Trump on this 2nd term (if he ever make it).

Boats,
Re. your: "Fix our overseas bases first then finish the wall."
Are you and Dems more worried & concerned about foreign nationals' Lives, Liberty, Safety & Security,...INSTEAD of the rest of We American Citizens???

Do you and Dems have anything better than The Pelosi Way and/or just: "Cutting the grass lower", for securing our wide open southern border???

Furthermore, I didn't even know that our overseas bases needed fixing in the first place.

If really so (?), maybe you should inform the governments of those nations overseas being protected by the U.S. Military and/or the very best military on earth, to pay-up and fix whatever needs fixing.

European & Asian nations being protected by US (both ways) have money also.

Exclamation

I'm more worried about our Troops on these bases that need upgrades and repairs.
They are our front lines and if you don't care about them - shame on you.

Boats,
Get real!

America's Great Troops overseas will do well and fare well, like they always do.

Don't be: "More worried" about them than you & Dems apparently ARE NOT,...for rest of America's defenseless civilians/infidels and/or Primary Targets of Opportunity for our fanatical enemies.

Fortunately, and just exactly the opposite of most Democrat Political Supremacist Ruling Elites' norm, President Trump (plus all other sane and sensible Americans) are ALSO concerned about The Safety & Security of ALL American Citizens,...civilians or not - infidels or not.

If truth be told,...Democrats want nothing less than TOTAL One Party Power & Control OVER America & Americans,...such as is so common in Progressive, Communist or Authoritarian type nations. Nothing more, nothing less.

RECO - I'm neither Dem or Rep - I vote who I feel is the best for the Country. Not for any particular Person or Party. My vote is my own and I make my own decisions whom to vote for during all elections. What's best for the Country and the People is all I care about.
Trump is an egotistical - self-centered and a person who is money hungry. He doesn't really care about the people he runs over in the process. He doesn't take advice from those who know - rather he makes decisions without all the facts. He doesn't care about the people of this country - his only thoughts are about how he can make profit from his current position.
-
I voted for him once - but never again - he crossed way too many lines and what he needs can not be posted. 1-Term is bad enough. Give him a 2-Term and God only knows he may alter the status of the USA in the world. His 4-year TV show will end and his pockets will be full of profits and future connections. Don't forget his Mount Rushmore head has to be carved into the rocks. Won't that be a real thriller!

Boats

That's the way I read it.
