My Soldier
I know I ask you guys a lot of questions and I am so thankful that I have found this website and you guys have answered everything I have asked. And so I thought I would share with you a little about my uncle. This is a newspaper clipping from our local newspaper after he died...(I left out cities and addresses...so those will be starred)
"A R***** man Sgt. Stanley W. Armentrout, 20, was killed in Vietnam Tuesday when a booby trap exploded where he was engaged in combat, south of the demilitaried zone. A 1966 graduate of R****** High School, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Stanely R. Armentrout of *********(address) and husband of Linda Rosenberg,*********. The couple was married two weeks before he left for Vietnam last July. Sgt. Armentrout enlisted in the Army two years ago this month and had his basic training at Ft. Benning, GA. He was then sent to Ft. McClellan, Ala,. for specialized weapons training. He was with the Company E, Recon Platoon, First Battalion, in the 11th Infantry. Sgt. Armentrout was born Sept. 13, 1948, in ***********, to Stanley and Audrey Armentrout. The family has lived in ****** for 15 years. He was a member of ******** Church in ******. Survivors, in addition to his wife and parents. include a sister, Cherie, and three brothers, David, Ronnie, and Randy, all at home, and his grandmother, Mrs Vance. ***** Funeral Home of **** will have charge of services. My mom was his sister and she was only a year old when he died, so she doesn't remember him at all, which is a shame. So that's only one of the newspapers that covered his death, the article did not have the journalist's name or date but my uncle died on November 16, 1968, in Quang Tri, Viet Nam. Taylor |

Info from http://thewall-usa.com/info.asp?recid=1341 STANLEY WILLIA ARMENTROUT SGT - E5 - Army - Regular 5th Infantry Division Mechanized Length of service 2 years His tour began on Jul 23, 1968 Casualty was on Nov 16, 1968 In QUANG TRI, SOUTH VIETNAM HOSTILE, GROUND CASUALTY OTHER EXPLOSIVE DEVICE Body was recovered Panel 39W - Line 72 And from personal comments section Francis Brooks fbroks1@gte.net Friend and comrade St. Petersburg,Fl. What a waste Stan was a perfect example of the waste of a promising young life. Newly married with a child on the way, his whole life was in front of him. I was there the day he died and Rick and Jim were wounded. I'll never forget that day and pray for his young wife and unborn child that he never got to see. So many lives wasted for a cause we never understood. Tuesday, June 01, 1999 Greg H Greg699@aol.com Friend & Comrade Like F Brooks, I was with him in the states and in Nam and would like to say, what a shame that he had to depart this world before he could really live his life. I hope his beloved family has perservered the tragedy and is well. I have a poetry site that contains one I dedicated to Stanley. The URL is: http://www.geocities.com/onerhyminpoet/ The poem is Hey Bro'. F.Brooks if you see this.email me. Monday, September 27, 1999 Ron |

Ron,
Way to go! Taylor, again, thank you for remembering the Uncle you never knew but respect. You are a hope for a generation that doesn't learn history and most could care less what happened to men like your uncle and men on this site that fought side by side. Bless you! Pack

If you go to the web site I put up and put anyones last name in the "lastName" section and then search, you will come up with a list of that last name and wear on the wall they are.
Although I'd like to take the credit for getting info, It was the http://thewall-usa.com/info.asp?recid=1341 Who did the work, I just knew where to look. Glade to help Ron |

Thanks
Thanks everyone, thank you VERY much Ron, I have been on that website but I haven't spent enough time on it to explore it thoroughly. My uncle is very important to me and this website lets me know that I am not alone, and neither is he.
