SORRY CURTIS
Can't help ya', Bud. I was in Nam JUN'66-JUN'67, but as an infantry paratrooper with the 101st. When I returned in FEB'68 with the 82nd, I eventually ended up on convoy security. So I didn't drive them, I just protected them. You're right, though. They were tankers. Sorry I can't help Buck. Hope someone that can catches this, and you're a good man for helping him hook-up with some buddies.

Curtis
That was before my time period. I didn't get there until Jan 1968. We did go to Pleiko. If you could have this guy try the Army Transportation Corp Vietnam Association web site he would be able to find people there. www.atav.us I've found a few people from my old platoon.

Tankers
First half of '68 our company went thru many officers and men. Being friendly I'd always suggest they never ride in a convoy directly behind a truck hauling JP-4. Then explained why. After seeing what WP or napalm can do to people, got an entire new respect for fire. People in those trucks could not be paid enough.
We did have one hit with an RPG, it may still be burning. Stay healthy, Andy |
