Community Action Information Board: How it helps you

The board is headed by the installation commander and consists of the command chief master sergeant, group commanders and leaders from other base support agencies. CAIB takes a strategic and cross-functional look at the quality of life, personal readiness and community issues to formulate long-term solutions. CAIB also promotes collaboration among helping agencies, identifies gaps in service and reduces duplication of effort. Most of the concerns that the CAIB addresses is derived by the Integrated Delivery System, which bases concerns off of the semi-annually community-needs assessment. After the assessments are completed, the IDS presents the CAIB with a summary of the results within six months. "Many of the concerns that the CAIB addresses are indentified by the community and the Integrated Delivery Systems committee which is made up of base-helping agencies such as the Chapel, Airman and Family Readiness Center, mental health and the Health and Wellness Center," said Cynthia Harrison, 100th Force Support Squadron A&FRC chief. "Additionally, the community needs assessment conducted every two years, provides insight into areas of concern for the IDS and CAIB to focus their efforts on." After the summary is given to the CAIB, the IDS proceeds to create a community action plan, which summarizes and consolidates the prioritized community concerns and the proposed solutions. The plan also acts as a guide for the IDS and the CAIB, while they work to solve the issues and concerns of the community. Some concerns the CAIB is addressing this year are alcohol abuse, suicide, domestic violence, mental health issues and proper nutrition. Those with concerns can identify them during the next community-needs assessment or inform an IDS member, so the CAIB can better assist the community. "The CAIB and IDS are actively working to make RAF Mildenhall a resilient community. If you have ideas or concerns, you can contact the IDS through any of its members," said Harrison. "Participating in the upcoming caring for people forum is a great way to have community needs and issues heard by not only the local CAIB community, but U.S. Air Forces in Europe and Air Force CAIBs as well.
