Kaylyn's Lemonade
Seeing and hearing about the devastation in the Gulf Coast area, our granddaughter asked her mom if she could set up a lemonade stand near Pflugerville High School in their home town. Seems that it's right on a very busy highway, and with a home-made sign taped to the table, she was ready for business. The sign read, "Kaylyn's Lemonade for Katrina Victims" and in less than 3 hours, she cleared more than $60 bucks! Her mom's going to send to the Salvation Army for their use.
Is Pop proud or what??

Latest update on Kaylyn's Koolaid deal!
[This is what our daughter sent us via email. Proud Pop and Ganny]
I thought I would write and tell every one about a really cool idea that Kaylyn came up with the other day. Kaylyn has a friend in her class that has family in Mississippi and she was telling us a story about this little girls family. Apparently, this little girl and her family in Pflugerville have family members in Mississippi that were greatly affected by Hurricane Katrina. This family has found all but one Uncle in this storm. She wanted to do something for the families that had been affected by this storm. She wanted to sale lemonade and send the money to the victims. Well, Donna and I couldn't let her down, so we went to HEB and loaded up with Kool-aid and Lemonade and took it up to the local High School and sold Kool-aide and Lemonade to raise money for the victims of Hurricane Katrina. In a days time, we had Sonic drive in donating ice, HEB donating cups, and Albertson's donating butcher paper for signs. In one day of sales, Kaylyn has raided $300 for the victims of Katrina! We had radio stations telling her story and before we knew what happened, we not only raised money for the victims, but also managed to get diapers, peanut butter, cereal bars, canned meat, bottled water, clothes and toys for the victims. We plan on doing this Kool-aid sale for one more day and then we will give all that we have received to the American Red Cross, Salvation Army, and Good Will industries. I tell this story because I am proud of the little seven-year-old that we have raised. She has the ability to think outside herself and have empathy for others. How cool is that!!! Donese

An enterprising young lady with a heart of gold. Her actions speaks volumes about the people that are raising her, and those that influences her life most. Several reasons to be proud here, Brice.

Latest Kaylyn Report
Got word last nite from tired daughter and grand-daughter that the count is now over $500, and enough clothes to outfit and army, quote/unquote, and stacks of food items. My darlin' little Kaylyn asked her mom if they could just do one more day of Koolaid for Katrina's victims, and then get the donated items to the collection sites.

Final Report!
Hello Everyone!!
I wanted to give you an update on Kaylyn's Kool-Aid for Katrina. Drummmmmm Rolllll Pleaseeeeeee .......................... over the three day weekend Kaylyn and company has raised over $750.00 for the victims of Katrina. We are so proud and amazed at how much we have raised. We also were able to get clothing, food, toys, and water for the victims that have been brought to the Austin and surrounding area. Although this project has taken up most of our holiday weekend, I cannot think of a better way to be a part of a community so willing to give when they have also been hit by this catastrophe. Take care and God Bless, Donese and Company [This was the latest email from our daughter, detailing the events of their weekend and the great effort they made. Needless to say Pop and Ganny are proud as peacocks!]
