Default NATO conference to address maritime operations in non-permissive environments

From 29 June to 1 July, the NATO Maritime Interdiction Operational Training Center is holding its first annual conference in Chania, on the Greek island of Crete. Speakers from academia and military organizations will examine the conceptual, legal and operational framework of maritime interdiction operations, such as piracy, when compliance is not given. Participants from the civil and military maritime community will look at case studies and lessons learned, ways to minimize risks in unclear situations and training adjustments to address existing gaps.
