Default Loose Zipper Edwards

And so the plot thickens! Up to this point, we now know that (1) he was/is sleeping with a woman not his wife, (2) he lied to the American public (at least those bedazzled by his BS who actually listened to him) that he wasn't having an affair, (3) that he says he doesn't know who was/is paying all the $$thousands for his lover's house, cross-country trips, and other perks, and (4) that he says that the baby isn't his.

(1) Is this a particularly unique characteristic of Democrat presidents or presidential wannabees? Going at least back to FDR, we can add JFK, LBJ, and Der Schlick Meister himself to the list of Loose Zippers. Only HST was a straight-arrow, and Jimma Cartah was too ugly!

(2) Is there any public condemnation by those, including gimpy and exrrlp, of having been lied to, or is it just private angst and hand-wringing?

(3) Is there/has there been a violation of Federal Campaign Finance rules about using publically raised monies for private use? If so, when will the prosecution start? Was there/is there a violation of the IRS Code, specifically the rules on gifting, and the absence of any Gift Tax being paid? Wonder when the investigation of either of these alleged violations will begin?

(4) Wonder how Loose Zipper Edwards really feels, now reading that a former campaign aid is claiming paternity, with the implication that Edwards lover was sleeping will several people.

Maybe we should start a 'web pool' to see who's going to jail first!

You can count the Presidents who kept heir flies buttoned on one hand. It starts with Washington and continues with very few exceptions. Harry Truman, Lincoln and Teddy Roosevelt seem to have stayed away from that kind of scandal. Most of the rest seem to have had various dalliances except one President from Pennsylvania who never married and was thought to be gay. Powerful men attract women. There are women who chase cops, priests and high ranking military oficers. I think they might be notching their bed posts.
It isn't restricted to Democrats. I'm not aologizing for Edwards, but there's lots of Republicans who have had trouble keeping their zippers up also. You could say that it's a "Bi-Partisan Vice"

While not denying that there may have been Republican dalliances, the topic at hand is the prevarications of and potential penalties for John Edwards.

What colmurph said.

Contrary to popular opinion, character does count. If a politician breaks his word to his/her spouse, I do wonder if their word can be trusted on anything.
If the $14K payment is in violation of the law, I hope there would be a full investigation, trial, conviction and punishment. Campaign accounts are not candy stores.

Default Advisor,...

If believing ONLY HALF of what on TV News, that: "14K payment" mentioned that you
alluded to, pretty-much only comes to peanuts or chump-change in the Edwards Debacle.

There are monthly payments & home costs tallying-up MILLIONS, which The IRS, Feds &
Campaign Fund People are looking into,...and quite rightfully so since much Publicly Funded.

This is the latest example of the political class acting badly.
