Default Just got back in town...

Sorry for your loss Dave. Lost mine in 2000. Think about him every day.

Hand salute and rounds out for your father. I thank him for his service to his country.

I am sorry that your dad passed Dave. I might not be elligible to give the hand salute but the sentiment is still there. I have deep appreciation and admiration for the men and women who wore (and still wear) the unifiorm. Especially those 30 pilots who flew together in Vietnam. At least your dad and my dad got the chance to talk together before he left.

All the best .... and my prayers,

Todd

Todd
Thank you so much for your kind thoughts. Much of the info I'm finding is from my dad's OER's. You might ask your dad if he has those so that you might understand more.

I have also found film that my dad took during their time their. It shows about 6 to 7 C-47's dropping paratrooper's (in front of him,who know's how many behind) in 62 to 63 when we were not there < I will add more as I didgitize for all.

On a personal note my dad was so glad to have been able to speak to your dad after so many years, as though they had never been apart.

Hi all
Just got thru watching the most recent version of Pearl Harbor on the History channel for probably the third or fourth time.

And it made me think of my dad (this happens every day) he has only been gone for two months! So I have his flag on the fire mantel so I went and felt and touched the stars for the first time since it was handed to me. It was very consoling!

I miss him so and I also regret that being a “twinner” that I was not able to serve as so many of you have.

I follow this forum with so much awe and heart felt respect for all of you!
You guys make me smile, cry (wanta hit something! <☺) and if nothing else makes me reflect on how proud I am of my father’s service, my mom’s support of her husband’s dedication to this nation.

I have seen as some have been chastised and brought back to the fold with dignity and respect.

Everyone’s opinion count’s, just as my dad would have appreciated so much as a soldier, patriot and friend.

Default WWI documents

Found some interesting documents in my dad's things.

They are from the end of WWII both with signatures that appear to be Hap Arnold's, yes I know they are not original but the wording's etc are interesting.

If can't be read well I can re scan but kept resolution down for size.

Scout

Thank you for your kind thoughts!

I would really like for all to know that my dad thought me that we are all equal.

Even though he had the "rank" he treated every NCO and Airman as his equal! (I can relate stories’ were he got a room with him with a black NCO in the south when it was not acceptable!)

I'm sure that if anyone on this forum knew my dad they would attest to that.

I know in many squadron's where he was in the admin officer, with his own money bailed out or used his rank to make sure anyone under his command was treated with total respect no matter what their rank was.

I have always remembered this thought my business life from the guy in the backroom to the owner of the store.

The lesson’s I have learned have contributed to my success as a Manufactures Rep in the photographic industry for 30 plus years.

It has only been 6 month's since my dad has passed, but his ethic will live on forever, I promise!
