WH - I have to agree with that gals grandpa - I've working on many aircraft and "all" pilots want to know their fuel allowances prior to taking off. Usually given to them in pounds. Some jet aircraft I recall could get as little as 3500 pounds to as much as 52,000 pounds (for Navy re-fuelers). The rest of his take off weight was normally assigned to his ordnance loads and destination or target assignments. Too heavy and he could become a cold shot. This would also let them know how much time they would need to get in and get out. Most didn't hang around with low fuel reserves. If they had to get out of a incoming SAM and go into AB they would drain their tank pretty damn quick. F8's could be empty in about 6 minutes on a full AB push.

Heck I didn't wannabee in '65 and now I have to hang up my CMH and not tell any of them chickeys down at the beer hall 'bout it 'cause their daddy might think I'm a hero er sumthin. I'd give it back to L(ame) B(rain) Johnson but he didn't leave his forwarding addy fer me ta send it to him. Iddah had a couple a them bronze stars but JFK(erry) had a lock on most of 'em. Anyone want to buy a PH? I got bunches of 'em and there's more where they came from.
In '68 there was only one thing that I wanna'd and that was sung at all of the EM clubs and was quote; "I wanna go home, I wanna go home, OH LORD I WAAAANNAH GO HOME."

That would be the 3rd Bde.. I was in the 1/17th Cav, and landed in Chu Lai 17FEB68. The brigade stayed 19mos. I believe.

Thanks for that information A.B.
I was always lead to believe no units with the 82nd ever went to Vietnam.

I treated some of their casualties in 1969. They were up around Quon Loi area.
