Default Memorial Day Remembrance

I dedicate this Memorial Day to all those brave men who were killed or died from my unit ( 2/22(M) 25th Infantry Division ) in Vietnam and Cambodia from Nov. 1969 - Nov 1970. You will always have a place in my heart and I pray your families will find peace.

May they be forever young and may they be wrapped in the wings of angels. And may you find peace.

In memory of all who went down for our country, may you know the peace that in war you did not find, and may you know of the love of your brothers and sisters until the end of time. WE WILL NEVER FORGET YOU.

We're having the 1st Memorial Day parade here since the 80's (according to the newspaper).

The Marines are bringing the tanks.

Don't forget to lower your flags to 1/2 staff until noon.

Perhaps the most profound tribute of all was made on the first national memorial observance in May, 1868, by then - General James A. Garfield when he said: "They summed up and perfected, by one supreme act, the highest virtues of men and citizens. For love of country they accepted death, and thus resolved all doubts, and made immortal their patriotism and virtue."

Default For my Uncles...

...Today is for my uncles...

...G. Warren Hull, who served in the Pacific Theater through WWII.

...William Gushue, who served upon the USS KITTYHAWK in Korea.

Thank you for my freedom,
Thank you for the memories.

May you both rest in eternal peace

Default Memorial Day

Reflections today make my entire being feel like a raw nerve. For 8 years now I`ve tried to be strong for my little girl, and to make sure that she,and hopefully the rest of her generation will not forget the sacrifice bourne by so many.Tears rolled freely down my cheeks today at the flag raising ceremony as Kati and her little Brownie troop presented the colors.Pride filled my heart, but it was overshadowed by sadness..and guilt..and questions that have gone unanswered.Shit,I`m a fine sight..what a friggin mess!..ramble,ramble,ramble,ramble...SO! anyway,I guess summer is officially upon us-I can tell by the firefight over there in the trees-OH BOY!!!..Fireworks..I HATE this time of year.OK..I`m done.Needed to vent..

Default griz

Griz your not alone on this holiday its tough on all who servived I too shed tears at our little cerimony put on by the vfw in sumner we the old guard have been replaced by a color guard from fort lewis also the firing squad is a seven man firing squad also from fort lewis. all us vets get to do is resite our pasages from the vfw memorial cerimony. God I feel so old and feeble even though i can still stand up ram rod straight and salute the colors I feel as though the next few generations want us gone so they can rule. but by god as long as i can walk and drive i'll still show up for the memorial day cerimony because by God my friends died so that we may have the honor of living here in the USA and I won't forget them EVER it is nice to see renewed patriotism but do they really understand the true cost of living here not just the blood of the dead heros the hearts and souls and lets not forget the minds that have been lost so that they may be free. to the younger generation 9-11 is what war is all about how little they know i pray that god grants them the strenght to perservier for this war on terrorist will not be over overnight and they can expect no parades because like us viet vets they will be coming home a few at a time for along time but unlike us they will be welcomed back as true freedom fighters to their hometowns each and everyone and they deserve no less bless our troops on sea ,in the air and on land amen
