Default Mike & Mike The Semper Fi Team PRESS RELEASE

PRESS RELEASE VVB & VERPA

VETERANS OBJECT TO THE REFERENCE OF THEIR EARNED BENEFITS AS "FREE"

by: Raymond "Mike" Clausen and Mike Bowman

Our nations' Veterans object to the benefits they were promised for their service to our nation termed as "FREE". The United States Government presented our Veterans with certain promised benefits such as no cost medical care, provided they fulfill their obligation in service to our country. (This was the Cost, any where any time....)

Many Veterans fought and many died in maintaining our freedoms. Some were wounded and some contacted various diseases which left them restricted or unable to seek gainful employment.

These Veterans, with medical problems that are service connected are taken care of by the Veterans Administration at little or no cost, (This was earned at a cost, no freebie here.), Notwithstanding the severity of their medical needs.

These Brave, Disabled Veterans, who were either injured on the battle field, or in peace keeping duties, are provided this care because they fulfilled a military obligation.(unlike the Government, the Vets. kept their part of the contract.) Therefore, they resent this or any other benefits they may receive as being called "FREE". All Veterans will agree: The Medical and other benefits are earned at a price few were willing to pay.

Over time, The U.S. Congress has allowed some of these benefits to erode. Grass Roots Movements such as the Veterans Voting Bloc are organized to regain those lost benefits by voting against any elected official(s), regardless of party affiliation, who do not pledge to support specific Veterans issues.

Also fighting in this battle for Veteran's Rights is The Veterans Equal Rights Protection Advocacy (VERPA), in their pursuit of the "Feres Doctrine Compensation Act - (FDCA)." H.R.2684. but more on that in later Newsletters.

Our Veterans have answered the call and sacrificed much. They have earned their benefits by honorable service to this great nation. Freedom is not free. Our Veterans do not expect a handout, But, They DO expect their nation to honor it's commitments.

I think that what is considered "free" health benefits, by some, is the care given to indigent, non-service connected veterans. They pay nothing for their health care. There are more of them getting health care from the VA than there are those of us who are service-connected disabled.

Oh, and as for "the promise" of no-cost health care in exchange for service....the ones who did 20+ years of military service and then honorably retired are the ones who are PAYING $$ for their care. It's called the Tricare Health Care System.

Peace.
