The Southland, and in particular San Diego County, has been hard-pressed to honor its commitment to veterans by supplying them with a respectful place of final rest!

With Fort Rosecrans, named after General William S. Rosecrans of Civil War fame, virtually full, many veteran?s families have been forced to bury their honorable dead many, many miles away. As a matter of fact, this has been the case for some three decades or more!

Now, however, an expansion plan has been put forward that would take a small portion of MCAS Miramar, about 200 acres, and set it aside to accommodate another 200,000 grave sites for veteran burials!

With only 120 national cemeteries in 39 states, the need to honor our final commitment to our nation?s finest is a pressing one indeed!!
