Unhappy Honor Abandoned?

"To Attain Honor, One Must First Give Honor Where Honor Is Due!"

A Bill now sits before Congress that would finally rekindle the spirit of appreciation within most Americans. A feeling of pride in the sacrifices of those who gave their last full measure of devotion while being held as captives of the dastardly enemies of liberty and freedom!

The Bill, HR 2369 is entitled "Honoring Our Fallen Prisoners of War Act." It would finally award a posthumous Purple Heart Medal to those captured Americans who expired in enemy captivity from causes such as starvation, prolonged exposure, beatings, medical neglect, freezing to death etc. And for the record, and contrary to what many of you may currently believe - "THE MEN, AND WOMEN TOO, WHO PERISHED IN ENEMY POW CAMPS RECEIVED NO PURPLE HEART ACKNOWLEDGEMENT FROM THIS, THE NATION THAT THEY DIED FOR!"

One would think that most within our elected government would immediately embrace such a bill, as it would finally (after nearly 64 years in some cases) pay homage to these gallant troopers who never returned home? Such unfortunately, is not the case, at least not thus far. And this at a time when our hearts have gone out to those, foreign and domestic alike, who have have been struck assunder by wars and natural disasters!

The President of The United States, all 100 United States Senators, about 285 Congressmen, and other concerned parties that include even veterans groups and retired politicos, have been contacted on this subject! This has been done in an effort to secure their co-operation and sponsorship for this fine Bill.

To this point, however, far too many who may soon seek re-election, have not even taken the time to address this issue! I will of course, make public the names of those who opted not to respond, or who sent out form letters alone! I will also make available, the names of those who graciously offered their support of this Bill, those who have displayed their caring and patriotism in this matter!

It is my opinion that the people of our great nation, especially in this - a time of war, have the right to know who does, and who does not care about the dignity, the sacrifices, and the final act of patriotism that was selflessly displayed by those who never returned!!
