So - Wuz-up Mr. Prez?

It?s no secret that this ongoing action in the Middle East may eventually make the ?Hundred Year War? pale in comparison! The Middle East is, after all, famous for it's never ending hostilities!!

Every day, I see a seemingly endless procession of military vehicles, some being transported piggyback, and other rolling along under their own power, streaming westward down the interstates toward the docks!! And unless this multitude of military might is being delivered to ?Old King Neptune Himself?, I have to assume that it?s final destination is somewhere within the Middle East. For not since the dead of night, nearly four decades ago, have I seen so much ?Mean Green Machinery? on the move toward the nearest ocean port!

And so, what happens to all of these men and their supporting materials when the latest tempest has departed into the history books of time infinitum - and when the final flip-flop back from this most recent war is completed? This of course, includes the fortune in military hardware that is always left behind to rust and be buried under the sands of time!

And let us never forget the injured and wounded men who will then have to rely upon the integrity and compassion of our government and the ?Big Business VA? for care and survival!

What then, when the trumpets grow silent, and the remembrance grows ever more mute - when these once, healthy young troopers begin to age and illness moves in where ideals and health once resided! Will the new VA Secretary buy yet another gross of denial (rubber) stamps? Or will he proclaim aloud, as other bonvivants in the past have done, that the medical and financial needs these brave and disabled veterans will be taken care of, and that our nation will never forget! "Now where have we heard that before?!"

?Our nation and her people do not forget!? Unfortunately however, far too many who reside comfortably within the ?Powers That Be?, have memories that are about as long as their noses and as restricted as their integrity - and therein lies the true shame!!

When all that those in power have left at their command are lies and yet more hollow promises, along with a never ending stream of self-serving bull excrement, then like all fools throughout history, if we buy into this fairytale, we will be eternally doomed to repeat our errors!!
