What does deros letters stand for?
Army tour of duty was 12 months and the Marines was 13 months. What was the Navys?

It seems everyone has a different definition for DEROS, this one is from army.mil:

Didn't the guys at sea though, at Yankee Station or Dixie Station serve according to the cruise schedule of their fleet? I thought Navy cruises were usually six months before returning to home station. I suppose it might have been different for the brown-water navy on the rivers and Seals, Seabees and other land-based naval units, and such.
