Default Libby was convicted

March 7, 2007

WASHINGTON -- In a major blow for the White House, former top aide Lewis (Scooter) Libby was convicted yesterday in a scandal involving high-level attempts to discredit a vocal critic of the Iraq war.

There are calls for the president to pardon Libby, I would say NO.
He was convicted of lying and obstructing an investigation.
Although he did nothing wrong (IMO) up until the lie, He should not have lied, and now he should pay for that lie.

I agree. He should pay the same as Clinton did for lying under oath, and he should pay what Sandy Berger is having to pay for lying and stealing classified documents esential to the 911 commission. What's good for the goose....

Clinton and berrger wern't convicted, were they?
Berrger , I believe lied.
I don't believe Clinton lied. Clinton asked for a definition of what was a sexual relation and the definition came back and he said he did not have a sexual relation, That would be true to the definition that was given him. Sexual relation can mean different things to different people.

He's taking the hit for others. He will get a presidential pardon and the system will take care of him. Other heads should have been on the block but the system takes care of its own.

Post I believe Berger was convicted.

Both parties fail at times in the area of ethics.
I'm disappointed not in the individual but our nation as a whole seems to justify their actions. Situational ethic that were being taught in our schools say: "the situation allows for decision" there is no concrete right and wrong. Should we be surprise when those in power practice situational ethics.

Clinton was disbarred for "lying under oath" aka perjury!

Kieth
If berrger was convicted then what was the sentence?

Pac
Being disbarred is a matter between him and the Bar. Not a conviction in a court of law.

If he was convicted in a court of law, then there should be an appeal or a sentence.

Don't get me wrong, I believe that all these are a bunch of dumb ass jerks, but thats my opinion not what a jury in a court room would/should say.

Berger was not convicted of anything....he wasn't prosecuted. They chose not to prosecute Clinton but the Arkansas Bar still disbarred him.
