Default Smithsonian Institute Museum

Actually, it's made up of several museums spread out over several blocks in Washington, D.C.. Each one has a theme so, unless you have a week to donate to just the Smithsonian, you need to pick the one's that house your interests. Andy's funeral shaved a couple of days off of our time for touring D.C., so we picked a couple of them that we were most interested in.

One of them was the Museum Of Space And Aeronautics. This place covers the history of flight from Greek gods and godesses to the latest space shuttle. Like all of the Smithsonian Museums, it's FREE. As soon as you walk in, you know that you're in for a good experience. You immediately notice full-sized airplanes hanging from the ceilings.

One of them is Charles Lindburg's plane, THE SPIRIT OF ST. LOUIS, the plane that made the first solo trans-Atlantic flight.
