Default Maritime Safety and Security Team San Francisco (91105) delivers donated toys

ALAMEDA, Calif. – Maritime Safety and Security Team San Francisco (91105) crewmembers delivered an estimated $20,000 in donated toys to the Oakland Children's Hospital Research Center in Oakland, Calif., Dec. 20, 2010.

“We had such a great turn out last year for the "Flood the Boat" toy drive, and we raised an estimated $10,000 in toys for the children at the hospital,” said Petty Officer 3rd Class Cory McDermott, a maritime enforcement specialist from MSST 91105 and the toy-drive's organizer. “Everyone really stepped up this year to make the toy drive even more of a success. We doubled what we brought in last year, which is really amazing. The people of the greater Bay Area are very giving, and I was so happy to be a part of this event. Events like this are such a great way for us to give back to the community and help those in need during the holiday season.”

The crewmembers collected new, unwrapped toys during six "Flood the Boat" toy-drive days. All the toys will be given to patients at the Oakland Children's Hospital.
